At the power plant. We have some equipment with 10" diameter carbon fiber drive shafts. When those fail, it's like a bomb going off. They take out everything around them.

At the power plant. We have some equipment with 10" diameter carbon fiber drive shafts. When those fail, it's like a bomb going off. They take out everything around them. They spin at 3600 rpm, but there is a chit load of torque behind them. What gets them, is being out in the weather. After the first 3 exploded. We started to change them out every 5 years.
