Ecutek tune

They go by CRG. Again, they are just starting. They’ve tuned built subies and EVos. They have tuned a few VQs via uprev including my cousins G37. He seems happy with it.
I’m ok with letting him tune my car. He will be giving me free retunes as well if i add ported manifolds or decide to go e85. Basically using my car as a guinea pig.

My main concern would be being able to take that same license and using it somewhere else like specialty Z if i dont like the work CRG does on my car

You would be able to use you license but most tuners lock their tunes so you wouldn't be able to modify their tunes if you go to another tuner. I assume you would have to reflash it back to stock and start from scratch but I'm not positive about that.

Soooooo, my 2 cents:

If you needed heart surgery, would you want the most experienced cardiac surgeon you could find, or would you go to a teaching hospital bc its cheaper?

Terrible comparison. With the cost of American healthcare you'd be better off taking your chances at a teaching hospital, because if you actually survived due to an experienced surgeon you'd be in debt the rest of your life.

Only if you actually have a job and make money. If you are broke, you won't pay a dime for your healthcare costs. Buddy of mine broke his neck just a year ago. Guy had $300 in his bank account and the federal government covered 100% of his $100K hospital bill.

FWIW, I did the same thing you are considering back in 2013. Don't do it.

I got a free tune for a guy that mostly does Miatas and wanted to break into the Z tuning market with Ecutek when it was brand new to the platform. He promised a lot and delivered on very little. He was too busy with the Miata platform and it was impossible to ever coordinate with him for additional tuning when I added mods or the dyno comparison that he promised me. Per our agreement I still owed him $175 for the actual license, but he couldn't even be bothered to return my phone calls to take my money when I tried to reach out to him.

I bought a cable so I can data log on my own and moved on to Seb at Specialty Z for all my tuning needs. Well worth it!!
