With that info I took an M12 X 1.50 die and cleaned up the first couple of threads and it's fine now. Apparently when the existing knob got tightened down it compressed the first couple of threads. I can see how that can easily happen with the design of the existing knob mounting design.

Post pictures! Curious to see it with a different knob and people always ask. Love my raceseng shift knob.
