Default Z1 Transmission mount?

I'm going to replace my CSC, Clutch, Flywheel, and Master Cylinder, so was wondering if I should also replace my transmission mount while i'm at it. Is the Urethane Transmission Mount from Z1 Super harsh in the M6? I don't mind a little bit of noise but nothing crazy as it's my DD. If it matters, i'm planning on getting a BP Twin Scroll in the near future...

If you plan to make everything else more rigid (engine, dif), might as well. Helps transfer the power down the line better.

I notice my shifts are more firm and minimal vibration increase.

It's simple physics. You have soft things bracing the engine,Trans, and diff. As the motor works, it produces rotational torsion from the engine to the drive shaft to the rear diff. This soft mounts absorb energy and displaces it as they get twisted this way and that way. The reason why they use these sort mounts is to reduce vibration both from the engine and road itself. The other thing you is you loose or should I day waste some power deflecting these mounts and you get a delay in power transfer. You swap these soft mounts to stiffer mounts and you reduce power loss from deflection and increase power transfer speed.

The Trans mount is super easy to change. It's like changing a tire easy. The rear diff is not too hard. It'sjust messy and take time. Motor mounts however can be a Hellen. If you don't have the right tools, you might really get fubared. I had my shop do much MM 3hrs labor. It took him a good 2.5 hrs to do it.

I have the Z1 urethane transmission mount and it is very simple to install and there was no increase noise or vibration due that mod. Shifting gears become more connected and mechanical, which I like. I also had Z1 solid aluminum motor mounts and SPL subframe bushing installed by my shop and the mechanic was like the motor mounts were a piece of cake compared to the subframe bushing lol. I was ready for an increase in vibration and noise with all but the transmission mounts being solid and yes there is more noise transferred to the cabin because the suspension is now rigid so no surprise there, sounds like a race car lol. As far as vibration, I really don't feel that there is much at all. I haven't noticed any and I can feel pretty much any changes in the car behavior.

The most important is that there is a very noticeable difference in in putting the power down because the transfer of energy happens immediately as there is no twisting of the engine on the solid mounts.

I have poly in all 3 spots. I can feel some vibration increase but it's definitely with it for the increase shift speed/feel.

I just installed my Z1 Mount last week -

It's suppose to come with Energy suspension bushings that's about a 90 in hardness, I got some 70's from Energy's universal kit. I am pretty anal about adding and NVH into the cabin - as I don't wanna totally change enjoyment of driving my Z. I also added a couple pieces of Second skin's damper pro - it's similar to Dynamat for Car audio purposes. The Second skin is thin metal with a rubber dampener attached to the metal - probally 1/16 or so in thickness. I cut a couple small 2.5" round pieces and added them to the top and bottom mount then put the bushings together with the 70 duro bushings. The nice thing about this mount is that you can set the preload - to be very stiff more of a race car feel - or whatever you want. I want my tranny to stay in place but not add a ton of noise into the cabin, so I didn't preload it that much.

Install if pretty straight forward - just remember to support the Tranny when removing the stock mount.

Driving impressions at first - at 4000 rpm and above it sounded mean and aggressive. At idle at first it made my engine sound like it was missing as it added a little more vibration.

But's it's been about 10 days or so - and maybe it needed some breaking time - cause that idle vibration seems to be gone. Above 4000 you can notice the engine reving. At normal crusing speeds you can barely noise anything. But the best thing - taking a corner mildly quick allot of the times with the stock mount I couldn't find 3rd gear, this mount makes it allot easier, as the tranny stay's put.

I will try to post more later, but so far thumbs up.

Yea i've got a pretty fair amount of play right now in all of my gates, and can see the shifter move during accel/decel. I'm going to get all three mounts when I turbo it.
