I joined this site just so I could ask you a few questions so I'm new to this forum business, haha. I had this same idea to do with my 370Z with the flashing and everything so I looked for how to do it and found this forum (yesss) so I want to do mine just like yours. Ok so you must have bought the "Blinking Smart Stop Third Brake Light Module W/Delay" from flashingbrakelights.com like you said correct? Now, I'm no electrician, so I'm gonna have my bro-in-law help me with the install, but I want to try and understand what's going on... So you take that flashing module and tap it to the tail lights before that connection makes it to the new third tail/brake light. Seems like I'd have to tap the module to the brake lights and run it to one filament of the 7443 and then tap the tail lights to the other filament of the 7443, or is it just one wire to worry about? What I'm asking is... is the 7443 smart enough to do the tail light and brake light flashing with it's double filament as long as I have the flashing module and tap into JUST the tail light as you explain? I just wanna do it right the first time so forgive me for the ignorance in my electrical understanding, haha... I'm actually not doing so hot in my electrical class right now as a matter of fact. Anyways, any help and tips would be appreciated, thanks for all the info. thus far. |

Here... Hope this helps!
BTW, my flashing unit was faulty which explained some trouble I had. The new one works as it should. Quote:

Hey Mr_Z, all the stuff I need is here and waiting to be installed (the 7443, flashing module, and the euro fog light itself). One question, is there a way to explain how exactly you modified that little socket to support the double filament bulb? It seems like a lot of work but if there's some trick you did I'd like to hear it, otherwise I'm ready and willing to dig in a make it happen, haha. Thanks.

Scroll to the bottom for the socket. Also, here's a post from another thread that gives a step-by-step on modifying and installing a dual filament bulb. Link: Rear Fog Light-Help!!! I followed that post and it works just as advertised. Actually, I got an extra socket I modified if you're interested. Pics and info are in the post linked below. PM me if you're interested. Hi OP seeing that father's day is coming up my kids asked me what to get me, toying with the rear fog light set up , can you elaborate were you hook up the lights to the brake and running lights, I want a direct connection no relays , would like to use it as a brake light regular light in simple terms, mechanically inclined but lack on the electronic stuff....thanks ( I've read most topics but they seem to jump around and not one really puts in in laymans terms cut green wire, tap green wire etc) thanks for your time

If it's the exact one I got, then the rear tail light will have 4 wires. Red, Green, White, and Black. The 370z's tailight has 5 wires. Red, Green, a tan/peach color, a teal color, and a black color. Splice the wires like this. Red -> Red Green -> Green White -> Tan/Peach color. Black -> Ground I'm 99% sure its White -> Tan/peach. It's the wire right next to the red wire. I did hit a snag with getting the 2 10mm bolt from the dummy light. What I ended up doing was using a drill and just drilled it at max speed for a few seconds. It'll end up melting the plastic a little bit and it'll come right off. |
