DIY: LED Halo w/Video's

Any updates on how the led strips are holding up? I'm thinking this is the style for me.

mine are still looking good but I have tried different sets and none have the switchback working correctly. So I just have the white wired up and found a way to make a blink off when the blinker turns on. They even sent me replacement switch backs and those didn't work either. They only work when I connect them to my testing batteries but as soon as I hook it up to the car they act weird.

Thanks for the update and repped. I'd be happy just using them as always on running lights, wired to come on when the headlight comes on. Any info on how to do it and what I'd need to buy (part# etc..) other than all the great stuff in this thread?

I get mine off amazon and btw, I just installed some more on a customers car and the switchbacks worked. Only thing that was different was hers were wired to a switch with just the amber tapped into the blinker. Not sure if that matters or if the led strip was a newer version. They did look different in color, more of a reddish tint.

Just want to stop by for an update now that I've had mine done for a while.

1. I used high quality professional automotive paint and have no bubbling even after some time sitting in the sun. No issues with halos loosening up or anything either. The automotive goop seems to be holding them on nicely.

2. All halos and lights are shining bright and working properly.

3. I have a little dust coming up inside my shrouds that you can see through the lens cover if you look very close. I'm not re-opening yet for this, but lesson learned! I went pretty slow and did a lot of trial and error with my lights which meant they sat on my workbench collecting dust a good part of the winter. I should have blew them out with a compressor before I put the painted shrouds back in and re-sealed them. wiping them down with a rag was not enough.

4. Overall, I'm really happy I did this myself. I spent around $200 as opposed to probably a $1200 job at a shop. I've also seen one of the shops do a pair of bmw lights that didn't do near as good of a job as me on them and he paid $1000!!! I get lots of compliments

5. I have no loss of illumination with the 6k bulbs in there. In fact, I think mine are brighter than OEM. Blacking out the chrome shrouds did not seem to have any effect on illumination, or the 6k bulbs made the difference.

This was the one I ordered but you are right I do see some cheaper models now. Looking at the cheaper ones they do look like the exact same thing. I might order some just to see if the color is different because thats the only thing Im not happy about these. They dont match the pure white temperature of the halos.

^Thanks again, the one in the link is a set of two correct? What else would I need to wire it up to come on when the headlight gets turned on? I'm not doing any other wiring to the light, no which back or halos just always on white LED strip.

It comes with all the wires already, just tap them into whatever power wire you want (parking light, headlight, cigarette lighter)
