Do you really have to remove the steering wheel to take the dash off?

I didn't have to either, but it will most likely be more difficult to install. it was a bitch!

Test fitting my VEI gauges. No sensors connected yet. Does anyone know if the OEM wiring harness for the stock triple gauges contains a wire from the headlight switch / circuit? If not, what did you connect to for the gauge dimming feature (gauges dim when headlights are on)?

I bought a spare triple meter on eBay to play with, but I don't have the harness yet. I remember someone in a different thread saying that they could not get dimming working from any of the hard lines into the harness, implying that it's dimmed from a CAN message (probably related to the headlight status)

So i found a wire in the largest of the four connectors that go into the audio head unit that controls dimming. This wire carries 0v if the headlights are off & 12v if they are on. It's the one circled in the attached picture. It's a red wire. This is for a 2014 w/ Bose but w/out nav. I test connected this to the dimming wire on my VEI gauges & it works perfectly.
