Default 370Z ballast

I have just removed the head light from my 2013 370Z and pulled the ballast. It says Panasonic Electric Works Co., Ltd. EANA26F 12907 and looks like this:
Note, this is also known as Matsushita Gen V or VI D2S Ballast

Now, if somebody could confirm this really is a different ballast to the -2009 models then we know it's probably the ballast's fault why most HID bulbs don't fire up.
I believe a Gen IV D2S ballast ought to look like this(?)

If only I had a circuit diagram I'm sure I could modify it so that our ballasts work more broadly

Digging up a very old thread here but after reading around and not wanting to screw myself over with having to wait on shipping etc I found the Osram CBI seemed most reliable.
Since I'm in Australia, 2 week shipping time is a killer if anything goes wrong.
I have a 2014 370Z and the CBIs work perfectly. As ghost_ix says, it's clear white and noticeably brighter than stock/random 6000K HIDs.

I bought cheapo $20 6000K HIDs for my last car and although the colour was nice the light output wasn't much better than stock.
These CBIs are definitely the way to go if you care about light output.
They're advertised as 5500K and are $185 from TRS:
D2S: Osram Xenarc 66240 CBI - HID Bulbs - Components

I might look at uploading some photos but unfortunately photos don't really capture the whiteness.

I managed to swap both bulbs out without removing wheels, I did have my girlfriend helping by holding the plastic guard back though, if you do this, just be careful it's not putting too much stress on the front bumper as it will bend it.

Default non-working headlights

All of a sudden my headlights do not go on. I looked high and low for a fuse [in the three obvious fuse-holders] and no 'headlight' fuse seems to exist. I would like to diagnose the problem or listen to anyone who may have the same problem. Could 2 headlights go bad at the same time?

Installed Garax's on my 2010 and they work like a charm no issues nor modifications needed. Sourced from eBay.

I'm looking for some 6k HIDs for my headlights as well. Your link leads to the home page. Who do you guys use now that JWMotoring is gone?

These are D2R not D2S. I think I was able to find them though, thanks for the link!

Premium D2S

Is just me or are 6000k bulbs today not as "blue" as they were 6-8 years ago? They all seem to be pure white today! WTF.

Agreed. Back in 2004, I saw an rsx with blue blue hid headlights and at a light, I asked the driver the k temp, to which they responded with 6k. I currently have 8k and, although it does have a blue tint, it’s nowhere near the blue of that rsx.

Anyone switched to leds for their 370z. Thinking about it for my 2009 but not sure if they come w low and high beam single units. Anyone using leds please chime in, provide model number and link to where you got them.

Besides the Phillips OEM replacement headlight bulbs for our cars the Micro Evolution VLED 6000K headlight bulbs were the best that I have used so far that last the longest. With headlight bulbs you always get what you pay for. Refrain from using cheap headlight bulbs in your Z such as headlight bulbs manufactured in China. Have you replaced your headlight bulbs on your Z before? www.vled.com
