A few months ago I swapped out the side markers and it was a PITA with the wheel turn method.
its just not possible, and you'll see once you have actually removed the wheel why. BTW has anyone tried 8k yet????????????

Just replaced my bulbs. A few tips:

1. You do not need to remove the wheels. Lift the car with the jack that came with the car until the front tire slightly comes off the ground. Turn the wheel to the opposite side that you are working on (if you're working on the left side, turn the wheels to the right). You'll have plenty of room to get the job done.

2. After removing the three clips that the OP mentioned, the light grey cap that covers the bulb housing twists and then comes out easily. Do not pry it off.

3. Take some time looking at the metal clips that hold the bulb in place. Here's instructions on how to get the clips off:

Move the outside clip finger holder thingy (the one toward the exterior of the car body) toward the front of the car and then toward the ground. There's a notch where the clip will come loose and then release toward the back of the car. The clip needs to be removed from the clip housing completely.

4. Keep the big notch of the bulb at 12 o'clock when you put the new bulb in. Be patient and don't be forceful. Once you line up the notch in the bulb housing with the bulb notch, it will snap into place.

Default HID bulb question.

Is D2S and D2C the same?

nope Z's have bi-xenon bulbs, so one bulb should do for each

I wish I didnt have to remove the front wheels when I replaced my HIDs, but my rims are 1/2" wider up front with wider tires. Also, since I have large arms, I just couldnt find any way to get a good look or access to the HIDs..

Miss the car somewhat as its the best handling and braking car Ive ever had, but the 05 STI proves more utilitarian and a lot more fun for me...

A few pointers, as I did it for the 2nd time today and went with 8k:

1. Buy a few of the plastic clips from Nissan. No matter how carefully you try to remove the current clips, they will break. If the don’t break, they’re so brittle and might as well replace.
2. Test the lights before putting everything back together. I replaced the parking lights with LEDs and put one backwards.
3. Wear latex gloves. You will get dirty. This will also prevent you from any accidental skin contact with the bulb.
4. Don’t be lazy. Jack up the car and remove the wheel. It will make the installation much easier.
5. I used medium pliers to turn the parking lights, as I have big hands and can’t fit in that space.
6. I placed a small amount of dielectric grease between the connector and bulb.

Not sure if it's just me, but I prefer to remove the bumper and headlight to mess with the bulbs. The whole bulb swap took me 45 minutes.

It is very possible as I just swapped out the stock HID's for 10000k's. Its a hassle and definitely easy with the tire off, but got to admit that I did it in an hour and a half and the lights look beautiFUL! Got mine from ijdmtoy and there not deep blue, or have a hint of purple, there bluish, whitish, but little bit more on the blue side.
