When I used a pressure washer was at work to clean trucks. IIRC, the washer was rated at 2000 psi. More than once we knocked a chip out of the paint and once removed about a 3"x6" chunk. But this was over 30 years ago and maybe paint is a lot better now. Or maybe it was all the dings a work truck receives that gave the water a place to "bite". Or maybe I was young and dumb and didn't know what I was doing. Anyway... you certainly seem to have more experience (and more recent experience) with cleaning cars than I, so I'll recommend that ppl take your advice and discount or ignore my previous post.

Hahahahaha no no no, you misunderstand me lol. $200+ for a pressure washer! The most I've seen a foam gun go for was a Gilmour one for about $60

Well, since this thread has been brought back from the dead I suppose I have something to share. Since this discussion I purchased the AR blue clean pressure washer and a foam lance and I must say I will never wash my car normally again.

I read all the reviews about that pressure washer on amazon, that may be something to think about in the bear future... Looks great man!

Oh, one thing to note about the AR model is that the adapter for the foam lance is no longer in production and can basically only be purchased from eBay. This is something I wish I knew before hand. Do your research on which pressure washer models work best with the foam lance. There are a lot of different pressure washers with no standards but only one type of foam lance (as far as I know)

I didn't try it but from reviews the advantage of the MTM Hydro foam lance is its adjustable ratio, larger reservoir and that it works directly with the pressure washer. The biggest plus is the adjustable ratio because some other "foamers" that I tried only had a fixed ratio was always too watery and didn't foam at all.

The one I suggested is adjustable ratio too and I think I can wash an RV with the amount of soap it holds, lol

I'll try to make the next meet. I really want my bloody door handles back, I'm shipping them off again after having them on my car for a day. Paint matching is such a PITA.

To those earlier in the thread saying they use a foam gun to soak the car then go straight to the bucket and sponge, that is just horrifying. You are still dragging all of that abrasive grit across your paint.

The point of a foam gun is to remove most of the dirt first so you can then wash the car much more safely. Pre-soak the whole car, then rinse off all of the foam thoroughly and wash the car normally using the two-bucket method.

^I agree with this but instead of washing normally I just spray a second layer of foam on after rinsing off the first and give the car a good once over from there. I'm only using water in the bucket w/ grit guard in order to rinse off the mitt.
