To those earlier in the thread saying they use a foam gun to soak the car then go straight to the bucket and sponge, that is just horrifying. You are still dragging all of that abrasive grit across your paint.
The point of a foam gun is to remove most of the dirt first so you can then wash the car much more safely. Pre-soak the whole car, then rinse off all of the foam thoroughly and wash the car normally using the two-bucket method.
