On the street - no. On the track on a rear wheel drive cars - yes. At least that's what professional racing teams think.

I'm not asking to be a d bag. I'm legitimately asking if the 370z needed it.

Didn't think so at all, don't worry

Like cooltoy said, on the road definitely not. It's overkill and intact will kill ur mileage because of the all the downforce it creates.

On the other hand, at a tracks downforce is good. Sorta prevents drifting out especially on a rwd car and when ur going a big long straight then need to stop from like 200kph to take a tight corner, it's amazing.

Hope that helps.

I'm hoping to have the 370 on the track by next spring after I finish all of the cooling and handling mods.

No problem bud! I would say track it bone stock first. Then u will feel every little thing you do to the car to make it more balanced. You can throw parts in the car, turbo etcetc but at the end of the day, it's tuning and balancing and driver skillset that counts. E.g. I've seen a good driver driving the exact same car. One with boost and springs, one with bolt ons, a bit of engine work but full suspensions, coils etc. He made faster lap times with the non-turboed car lol! then again, it also depends on the track too. E.g. A nascar track vs. a f1 track. Me personally, I'd go f1, just IMO

Downforce is super duper awesome. The problem is drag. At some point, the benefit in cornering and braking times because of downforce is negated by the loss of high end acceleration on long straights (drag increases exponentially after about 60mph). 330hp is enough to support a decent amount of aero, I think probably plenty enough for off the shelf wing and splitter.

Off track it will just kill your gas mileage

I agree. That's the balance all levels of racing are trying to achieve and most of the time who ever gets it closest to that balance between most down force with the least drag - wins.
