Default Looking for some 370z information

Hello everyone,

I am about to purchase my first Z and I was wondering if you guys could help me out?

1. I saw that the 2015 nissan 370z Nismo is coming out soon and possibly for sale in July. Does that mean there will be a new Nissan 370z for retail or is Nismo =/= normal 370z touring?

2. If the above means there is a new 370z coming out, should I wait a month?

3. Does anyone drive their 370z in the winter? I am kinda..reluctant to drive such a nice car in the winter but, I love driving so... what do you owners feel?

4. I am from Toronto so it does get snowy here...have any people hit any problems?

Thank you!

wait a year or two for the new Z then wait another year for them to iron out issues. unless you're buying used 2009-2010 for $25k I wouldn't get a new one now

I drive mine all year. rust proof yearly and skinny snow tires are a must for winter

1)nismo is the highest level of 370z. it is not the same as touring.
2)they have not officially announced a new 370 but there are rumors and hints that they may be ending the 370 to make way for the new Zcar in 2 years or so.
3)many people drive their 370 in the winter. i personally know maybe 7-8 people who do. No problems beyond what you would expect from a RWD sports car in the snow. Its not a 4x4 but its also not undrivable. If you prepare yourself properly (don't drive like a retard, snow tires, car wash often, rust proof etc) you'll be fine.
4)we're almost all from toronto. most of us dont winter the Z, but as i've said before, many do. Just dont get a very aggressive front lip/body kit and you'll be fine. I highly suggest wrapping the front of your car in clear.

there are no real issues with the car that need to be addressed immediately besides perhaps a thermostatic oil cooler. Depends how you drive, if you like to kick the back out often and redline or if you drive in traffic a lot (if yes to traffic, you'll likely need an oil cooler)... why our cars didnt come with out from factory i will never understand. Only other issues i remember right now is the olders Zs had issues with steering lock failure. but that's been resolved a long time ago (and even if its not, come hang out with us for coffee and we'll fix it for you in the parking lot)

grats on your new Z, welcome to the family

LMAO Yea Mike no worries man, I respect your opinion but I enjoy driving the Z rain or shine. I pay to drive it not leave it parked 6 months a year.

Kira, don't be one of those guys who pay for a car and leave it parked in garage. It's an amazing car but not a classic or even that expensive. People are buying this thing for close 20k now(not new of course)

This past winter was brutal. A think an above average amount of snow?

What would you recommend as a method for coping?

Tbh, I wanted to drive it in the winter, but if it starts to snow like mad, and I have to go to work...I will need an alternative method...

Nismo being equal to Sport/Touring is subjective to interpretation but whoever you ask, they will tell you theirs is superior. (see response #1) Drive both and decide.

Right now I would say you are a good 4-5 years away from a seasoned next-gen Z that has had some of the bugs worked out so no sense waiting for it.

Yea I'd say you need to have a backup plan in case you can't drive the Z for whatever reason, weather or mechanical

I live in Minnesota, so...almost Canada. My Z gets put away in November, comes back out in March. The Z can be driven in the snow but you'll want different wheels and you'll have to have snow tires. In the meantime, bear in mind that although it can be driven in winter, by no means is it fun to do so. My daily driver in the winter is a 4wd Sierra.

I think he means when it's snowing it's not fun. I don't disagree. Although you can go to a parking lot with a little bit of snow and turn of traction and then you know how a rwd car drives. I'm not encouraging illegal behaviour! It's good to know how a car behaves in snow/ice if you'll be driving it in those conditions.

when it's dry you can have a lot of fun!
