I tried to program mine also. The light on the homelink never changes or blinks. I gave up and clipped the provided opener to the sunvisor.

The dealers often partially back out the fuse for the rear view mirror to prevent the draw on the battery when the car is sitting in the lot. Simply push the fuse back in and your Homelink should work. And BTW, the best way to program your Homelink is to simply press the "learn" button on your garage door opener, and then hold down the Homelink button you want programmed.
