I am having the same problem . I can't get the homelink button to go from slow blink to fast blink. The instructions tell me to do the learn function

I can't get the homelink button to go from slow blink to fast blink. The instructions tell me to do the learn function after the fast blink but I never get there. Car is a 2011 370z, garage door opener is a liftmaster 8550 brand new. and has security+ 2.0. Are they just not compatable? Will I need the repeater. This process is increadibly frustrating. It worked on the Lexus and I didn't even need to do the learning function, the Toyota wont pair and the Z wont pair. Probably wasted over an hour on this by now between pushing buttons and trying to google this problem.
