Default AP Racing BBK

Currently looking to see if their is a market for a Competition BBK for the 370z. Couple options I could think of:
1) 2 piece rotors to compliment the OEM Brembo Option
2) A full BBK with floating rotors & upgraded calipers

Is this something anyone could find usefull in the 370z community and are their any special requests for such products or things you would like taken into consideration if the project becomes a go.

I think both options should be considered. The basic AP Racing kit from Stillen is a good start, but the front caliper they supply is a street/track design with dust boots that promptly get crispified after the first track day.

There's only a handful of people running a full track car though so I'm not sure how profitable a full track setup would be in terms of designing new bracketry etc.

A straight up 2-piece rotor replacement for the Akebono's (there's no Brembo's) would likely sell more units.

How about an Alcon kit? I had that on my B6 S4 and it was great.
It had the 6 piston caliper up front that was cast 1 piece and the rear alcon
rotor with XP8 pads all around.

The picture above is a similar unit as supplied by Stillen. Its a street caliper but uses internal seals and comes fitted with anti knockback springs. Its also a stiffer caliper. I did not however check to see if their was a Stillen/Brake Pros option available for purchase.

When factoring in the cost of both AP Racing parts and Alcon I would much rather sell AP Racing parts due to the quality of the components and better design of them. It is much easier for me to properly design a kit with AP racing parts taking into consideration many different variables to offer kits that have the correct bias front to rear.

I'm with you there, the depth of the AP Racing product line is simply astounding, front street cars to F1 and everything in between. I'm still loving my Stillen AP Racing setup, the only complaint is the dust boots on the front calipers, we'll see if the titanium shims help a bit. At some point I'll go to a full floating setup but not worth it just yet.

We could easily put together a 2 piece floating system if their was a need or requests to.

I really like those J hook rotors. looks real good.

Alcons are used on lots of race cars as well. They make monoblock cast and forged calipers and the ones I had did not have dust boots, so they were true race systems with full floating discs front and rear. The AP ones in your pics are two piece calipers. Do they make monoblock ones?

AP does make mono blocks. The NASCAR AP's are a full monoblock including the bridge (they run massively thick pads), and the WRC calipers are monoblock with removable bridge for ease of pad change. However for normal track use the non-monoblock AP's are still stiffer than many monoblock calipers from other manufacturers, not the slightest hint of flex.

Floating rotors are an available option from Stillen, different front caliper, not sure.

A floating rotor set (front and rear) for the sport brakes was offered a few years ago by Relentless Autosports but only a few sets were bought.

If you want to drool at a little as what an F1 brake setup looks like that costs more than our cars, check this out (sorry for the off-topic).

Did the kit you bought come with anti-knockback springs fitted?
