At this point I thought switches at brake pedal. On AT the brake has 2 switches/sensors. one for brake light and one for CC.
What I didn't know was that on top of both switches there is a rubber cap. I guess after 200k the rubber gave up the ghost and disintegrated on both within a few weeks of each other. Not surprising as they both are on brake pedal.
Nissan in Dubai wanted to replace the entire brake pedal assembly!! Imagine the cost of that for a few rubber caps!
Fortunately my garage managed to source the caps from elsewhere and for a few bucks all is good. Brake light goes out again and CC works perfectly.
I am guessing when you buy switch in US it comes with cap?

Hope this helps someone in future.

Cheers
Nice easy fix after the labor of chasing down the issue. Look at it this way the rubber caps lasted longer than steering wheel lock, 6mt clutch system, fuel hats, galley gaskets (in most cases) and rear end bushings!!!
