DIY on rear brake caliper replacement?

Anyone have a DIY on it. It looks easy, but prefer to cheat to be sure

Default DIY on rear brake caliper replacement?

Anyone have a DIY on it. It looks easy, but prefer to cheat to be sure

Non sport to sport calipers?

Sport calipers. Remove the clips. Pull the pins. Remove the pads. Unscrew the bleed hose. Remove the 2 bolts behind the caliper. If you are real lazy. Just unscrew the hose, and remove the 2 bolts. Pull the caliper off with the pads still in it.

I thought you knew all of this.

Doing the pads is easy, never did the rotor. I think I saw it, I just hated how the 19mm is sitting. It’s hard to put leverage on itp

Put the wrench on the bolt and hit the end of the wrench with a rubber mallet to loosen up the bolts. If you are just getting to the rotors. You can leave the brake hose on the calipers. Just zip-tie them out of the way.

I had to go buy a wrench, I had every size except a 19mm. I also bought a flex head ratchet, but i might return it. It was $49.99!! I did the front caliper, front studs, got stuck doing the brake line as everything was rusted on. I guess I will attack it tomorrow.

I did open up my new cobalt friction pads, nice and shiny.

I found one offsetting wrench, was able to use a hammer and got it off. I do need to buy some flare nut wrench and attempt to replace the brake lines, I also want to let the rust penetrator to soak the nuts

If I remove the parking brake spring to change the studs, do I have to readjustment the parking brakes?

Yes. The adjuster on top only goes one way. So pay attention to that.

You going to change the studs without removing the bearing from the knuckle?

I did it to the front, should I not do it on the rear? I just bang them out

The offsetting wrench I had was some old Mercedes Benz emergency tool. That thing is pretty awesome

I didn't try very hard as it was getting late, but i got my front brake lines to change over with some flare nut wrench. Yet the rear seems to be on pretty tight. I let some PB soaker soak on it, let's see if it works this time

You going to remove the bearing to change the studs? If so. Follow my thread. There is some other ways of installing the studs in it. What I found that works on getting the bolts out of the rear bearings is using a 3/8" drive socket with a 1/2" adapter and 1/2" drive racket.

I plan to just use a hammer and bang them out. I bought one of those stud installer to help get it back in. The front one was a pain in the *** to do
