They hold nice and firm, are directed at you, and you can adjust the sound volume by closing the vents. The best part is that the vent still works plenty fine. They can spine, open close or whatever else they do. It's a clean, easy and simple task.
Pics plz

when everything is put back together, the door looks complete stock. Here are some pics of when I did it. You get the idea.

^Awesome idea! I blast heat in the winter, will the high temps effect tweeters mounted this way?

I highly doubt it. I have not blasted it with any heat. All I know is that it is really hot in TX and that tweeter don't really "pump" like woofers do. The solders won't melt, wires wont melt, plastic wont melt. With that said, less worries about parts drying out and cracking or whatever.

My thought on this is that alot of component sets come with that spacer or plastic surround which you could use to do a surface mount. Has anyone thought about doing a light cut out on the triangle between the door panel and the A Pillar - It's about 2 1/4" or so triangle. Removing this , cutting a template for the tweeter either flush mount or Surface mount. Thoughts? Small hole to run the wires down the door panel inside the setting of triangle flush piece.
