Default Cheap Tablet Mount

After thinking about doing a custom 7inch tablet in the dash, i decided i wanted to use my 10inch tablet instead. Its currently in the beta phase, but i have been using it for a month without issue. I will post the finalized product, along with detailed pics on how to make it, when im finished.

Looks good to me How's the vibration/movement when on uneven roads?

I've been considering getting a tablet setup for my Z as well. Problem is, up here in the North the roads are unforgiving. A lot of vibration/movement with any mods I do the for cabin drive me crazy (definite show-stopper if it's shaking and jigglating all over the place).

I am from Michigan, and we have terrible roads. After a month of driving it still feels very solid. That metal bracket is screwed to the cubby door using the stock screw locations mid-door on the cubby. I also covered the bracket in faux microsuede before mounting it. It produces zero extraneous buzzing.

I cut two strips of velcro and made two long slits in the back of the case for my Nexus7. I wrapped the velcro around the cubby door, through the slits in the case and tightened the velcro. When I close the cubby door, the velcro is held in place and the tablet does not move at all. I used it like this during ZdayZ and was very happy with the results. On the tablet, I am running Torque Pro and it connects through bluetooth.

The OBDII adapter was about $20 from ebay.

Now, as I promised, here are a few pics of my set up.

1) I cut another slot in the Nexus 7 case to match the one for the speaker.
2) You need (2) pieces of Velcro (1" x 23").
3) Slide the Velcro thru the Nexus case.
4) Open the cubby door and tighten the Velcro around the lid.
5) Close the lid.
5) Slide the tablet into the case and attach the power supply

I used the Nexus case because it is pliable enough to mold against the cubby door and still hold onto the tablet. The two pictures show the Torque Pro and Dash Command apps running.

Simple but very effective. I just need to route the power from inside the cubby to complete the mod. I used this setup during the 1300 miles of ZdayZ and the tablet did not move at all.

I liked this idea so much that I am claiming I came up with it and I also tried it with my iPad mini (revised slightly). Works phenomenally well!
