Get the Axxess ASWC working - All buttons

I just installed this unit with a Parrot Asteroid Smart. I couldn't get it to do anything but volume. I then switched the wires like posted above and everything worked

Hold Volume down wait for red light to go solid let go

Hold volume up for at least 10 seconds the red light will go into a slow blink let go

Hold volume down for 5 seconds the red light will start flashing rapidly let go

Hold volume down until light turns solid red.

Your done.

I just installed mine and looking at the instructions and this it wouldn't work until I deleted the last step of holding vol down......also mine blinks red and goes solid green....not solid red not that it makes any difference.

PAC SWI RC and the AXXESS ASWC-1 on a 2014 370Z base (non-Bose, non-nav.) with a Kenwood KDC-BT958HD.

VOLUME WORKS BUT NOTHING ELSE- Try swapping the two steering wheel signal wires.
AXXESS- has two sets of instructions for the Z, with one having only the two steering wheel signal wires opposite of the other, I decided I’d try it both ways. But don’t be fooled if only volume works! That doesn’t mean you have the wires right. Once I swapped the wires, everything auto-programmed flawlessly- done!

PAC - I did get the volume working, but did not try swapping steering wheel signal wires. Based on my experience with the AXXESS, you could give it a try on the PAC.
Obviously this assumes the other wiring is right- power and ground to the unit, and pin 15 on the Z needs to be grounded.

WHY I LIKE AXXESS ASWC-1 BETTER THAN PAC SWI RC

Axxess worked. I gave up on the PAC after a good try and since I found the PAC SWI RC is not compatible some Kenwoods with similar model #s as mine (See PAC website). Perhaps I just needed to swap signal wires, but there were other compelling reasons to go with Axxess as well.

Axxess has simpler wiring- The PAC-SWI RC features a bag of resistors and capacitors to solder in-line. Who wants to deal with that?? Admittedly Axxess comes with 1 resistor needed for programming certain Kenwood models (I didn’t need it with my Kenwood)

Axxess has non-volatile memory- meaning that in a few years when you change your car battery you will not have to also dig behind you dashboard to find the unit and program it.

Axxess has an auto-programming feature- this worked great once I had the wiring correct. Saves time. The programming with the PAC actually takes a little practice to get the sequences and timing correct for pushing all the buttons.

COMPARING SPEED- tie. I’ve seen posts on one vs. the other in speed. I had volume working on the PAC. I didn’t time it, but both seemed to increase or decrease volume at the same rate. Non-noticable / negligible difference.

I just installed one of these on a 2014 base. I couldn't get it to auto detect but could program it as per the thread. Only difference was the LED was green instead of red during process. Thanks for all the information!

This just worked for me with a Pioneer AVH-X2700BS in an 2009 Base. Had to manually program using the instructions above, but now works like a charm

Just finished installing in mine.

2009 Touring Bose Non-Nav.

Pin 6 and 16 exactly as the document says:

http://contentdocs.installernet.com/...icle/11879.pdf

Make sure to ground pin 15 of your harness. Follow the manual setup instructions - it worked for me. PM me if you need help.

Thanks to all the great info in this thread, took me awhile but finally got my AWSC-1 working almost completely. The only thing I can't get programed properly is the phone buttons, won't register when I program.

The Metra kit for the 370z (70-7552) should really be fixed, missing so many wires including the AWSC-1 wiring and ground. For some reason my new JVC stereo was working without it being properly grounded , fixed that and grounded the AWSC-1 to the chassis.

Also, the AWSC-1 didn't detect my stereo properly, said it was a Alpine, this is my second attempt at installing a AWSC, first time was a PITA as well.

Happy I got it working at least, info here was a big help.

HELP!!!! I've been at this for over a day and can't get the AWSC-1 to work with my new JVC receiver in my 2013 Z. The original audio was the base version.

The AWSC-1 won't auto-program, and when I manually do it, it goes thru the cycle (my solid lights are green) but in the end it just gives me 5 quick red blinks saying that it knows I have a JVC, but NONE of the steering wheel controls work. I tried the advice of one post that said to eliminate the last 'down volume ' step, but no go. I also read the posts saying that Axxess has 2 sets of directions for these cars so I reversed the red/gray and blue/grey connections and still nothing works. Anyone know whats going wrong?

OK- so I grabbed a beer and that helped me think a bit more clearly. Comparing all of the paperwork I collected during this marathon I found that there are some conflicting details in the Axxess directions. I sorted them out and NOW EVERYTHING WORKS.

For those interested: one Axxess note says to reset the unit by holding the reset for 2-10 seconds to get to a fast blinking red LED. At 8 seconds my unit goes to a slow blink which is the manual program mode which I could not get to work. Holding the reset for only THREE seconds and then releasing it while the LED is dark puts the unit into the fast blink autoprogram mode. When I did this and then held down the up volume button, the programming went well but the unit would control the volume only.

Based on some suggestions I earlier had reversed the red/grey and blue/gray wires so I now reverted back to my original pairings and tried the autoprogram again ---- now EVERYTHING WORKS.

Hopefully this will help others avoid the time sink I ran into.

Ok.. So I have a question.. Where do I ground my aftermarket stereo?? I've been getting some interference with the radio.. I'm guessing it's because I didn't find where to ground it?? Please help

Ground to chassis, find a spot with a screw and tighten the ground wire there, I used 2 different spots for my radio / awsc-1 install.

Welp, back to the drawing board, firmware update on my JVC deck messed up the ASWC-1, can't get it working again for some reason.

So I need some help

I have a clarion nx702 and the aswc.
My wiring is pink to red/gray.
And blue to blue/gray.
Grounded to a head unit bolt.
And red to red.
And the 3.5mm male to female of head unit

The programming unit has power and the LEDs function but I'm having an issue programming.

I can enter the auto programming mode and it will perform this process.

-rapid blinking after reset,
-then hold Vol up until slow blink begins
-then I get my 7 green blinks (which all appear to be short blinks)
-then I get my 3 red blinks indicating a clarion head unit.
-then I get a slow red blink green blink red blink green blink continuously.

I do not see a slow red blink / slow green blink continuous in the troubleshooting guide.

When I try the manual programming mode, when I hold Vol+ to start the first programming, it never goes solid, it will simply go slow red blink slow green blink continuous. I don't know what this code means and am therefor lost.

Any help you could provide would be phenomenal.

Thanks,

KBC
