I just open the cubby and there it is. Although I went out and purchased the Magellan 1700 (7" screen) today and I'm planning on making a custom mount that goes in front of the cubby door. I wasn't crazy about having the cubby door open when I was using the nav, but it is a great stealth look. To each his own. If I don't like the look of the 7" on the outside I plan on keeping the 4700 where it is.
I really like your idea about putting the magellan maestro 4700 in the cubby. But i have a question. How do you charge it, since the power plug is underneath the gps unit?
