I am running the Kiwi with Android software on an Epic 4g. Torque is a great app that keeps getting better for ODBII output data, it also has a video with dash overlay plug in for recording track runs.
I also have a scanguage II which I could plug in to the z and test if you need a 2nd opinion. I know that on my 2005 Toyota MR2 I had to use a non-CAN cable with the SGII because the CAN cable caused the ABS light to come on. Maybe there is something similar going on - but the Kiwi should work.
