Hiya, Looking for some help... Running 19 x 9.5 up front on swifts with the stock tire (245/40/R19). Feeling a good amount of rub on freeway bumps. Due for new

Default Front Tire minor rub issues - What's the best fix

Hiya,

Looking for some help...

Running 19 x 9.5 up front on swifts with the stock tire (245/40/R19). Feeling a good amount of rub on freeway bumps. Due for new tires anyway, so what should I do?

More negative Camber is your easiest fix but it means you will need to buy a front camber kit

Other option is to run a 245-35-19 instead

thanks for the reply:

increasing the camber with the amount I drive is going eat up tires quick. think the 35 side wall will look alright? wondering if its going to look kinda rubber band-y

35-series is what all of us 350z guys have been running forever, alot of you 370Z guys like to run 40's but we don't normally

Your other option is to use Coilovers to adjust the height and clear the fenders or just do like I do and put up with a small amount of rubbing every now and then and just run what you have

A 40 series sidewall is pretty tall to begin with. Have you tried shaving the fender liner tabs? That's the only thing I used to run on.

40 vs 35 is about 3/4 of an inch difference? Funny thing is that the clearance isnt bad but still rubbing.

That can be the differnece between rubbing or not but since you're on springs it might just be something you have to live with until can upgrade to coils

Also, the brand of tire has something to do with it as well. When I ran BFG KDW2's it was a much fatter tire than the current set of Continentals that I am running and it rubbed more often

If I were you I would just sell those tires and downgrade to 35-series, it's going to be your easiest and cheapest option

You will need more camber, I think ur issue is mostly offset on those wheels... than tire sizes....

Mixed feelings on the varrstoen 1.1.2 but for the buck its good enough to get rid of the stock look.

front 19 X 9.5 +12et on 245/40
rear 19 x 11 +15et on 275/35

yeah its ur offset the problem more than tire....... just add more camber u'll be fine... I daily on -3.3, keep it around -2.5 or so and u shouldn't have any weird wear...

I have the stock 19" wheels run 275/35/19 square, 285,/35/19 square.... now I picked up track wheels 18x9.5+22 and 18x10.5+15 running 285/35/18 square
