The new RA-1 has the same basic specs as the R888 so I wouldn't be surprised that they are the same compound. I prefer the Nitto NT01 over the RA-1 and the R888 in the dry, but they can't be street driven as they are noisy as heck.
How is the new spec different than the old spec? What are you seeing that is different?

Can NT01s be consistent all the way down to cords? I love RA1s because you can drive them till they cord. R888 lose most of their traction within the first month. I have a theory that NT-01 is based on the R888 while the Nitto NT555RII is based on the RA1. Does that sound right?

The shops here are annoying about mounting tires, it has to be purchased from them blah blah blah. The cost of mounting is out of control, makes me want to buy my own machine sometimes.
