Default tyre size comparison for 20inch wheels

hey all i asked the question here a while ago regarding tyre size...

i have the venaci VS124 in 20" with a 9.5" front and 12" rear

i have been advised off members on here that they run 255/30/20 front and 305/25/20 rear.

however when i went to my local tyre shop here in Australia (brisbane) they advised me i should be running 255/35/20 front and 305/30/20 rears

they also gave me this site to check out for myself.... i have attached pics to show you the difference in tyre sizes...

please give your opinion.... is the shop right???

Hello buddy
Here in Spain we have to use a "table" like the one you are showing up there if we want to go street legal, i mean, we could use the tyre we want, but we might have legal problems (tickets usually, and won't pass MOT)

Maybe that's why they are telling to do so... with such a low profile (20) you will have trouble on speed bumpers or any bad roads i would stay 30+ profile

yeah same here mate, i dont know why everyone over in the states are running the lower profiles. as the data from the tyre calculations suggest that the overal diameter is too small and will also be causing false speedo readings. the 35f and 30r are very close to the standard tyre specs, and will fill the gaurds nicer

35 in the rear on 20s? that'll throw your speedo off.. if you want a compliant ride stay with 19s, but dont go more than 3% off the original tire diameter..

I had first 255/30/20 and 285/30/20 of yokohama advan sport, I always felt the front tires were giving harsh side plus the speedo error was there as well, so I upgraded to 255/35/20 and now it feels so much better, there is literally no harshness and road noise.

what exactly are you feeling with your current tire setup, and now if my speedo is on 100m/hr I am actualy driving on 99.5 m/hr

It will be ok?

i think we have too much space in our fenders and for 9.5 255 suits better else you will have stretch look
