I noticed I was driving on steel tread on the back tires when I was washing my car last week. Cost is a huge factor for me right now since I'm not working and I live in SoCal where rain/snow/clouds don't exist. I did a little research and went with the Hankook Ventus V12 and noticed an immediate difference in less noise in the cabin but that could be from not having to drive on steel tread. $210 a piece but I'm happy so far and I'll find out if this tire wears quickly or if I have other issues, that will help me decide what to do when I need new front tires.

Their only saving grace is that they are not damaged by driving on dry days when its cold outside. Some tires are not to be driven at less then 30 degrees outside air temp...

run summer tires in summer and go with dedicated snow tires in the white stuff (blizzaks perhaps)

It's the big, light, wide, super torqued back end that is the problem. I usually can keep the front pointing but the back end goes full Tokyo drift mode at every bend in the road. I am not driving aggressively at all just trying to creep around my twisty hilly neighborhood.
Good to know, thanks for the info! I dont plan to drive much in winter at all, I was going to drive a Subaru for 4 months. Was just curious if I ran into light snow as the weather, much like Colorado can change on a whim.

I just started my first couple-hundred miles on my Bridgestone Potenza S-04's and love them so far. I am not far enough yet to give a lot of detail but off the bat, I'm pleased with the look, comfort, grip, and quiet ride it's given so far. I have tried to break them loose once and was unsuccessful doing so- very sticky tire.

those BFG's are not.
Does this mean the BFG's should have the inner side wall reinforced more than the outer sidewall for better wear or handling? Since the BFG can be run on the left or right side, the inner side wall is reinforced the same as the outer sidewall.

Just curious.
