Be Careful with UpRev in Mass

So it's confirmed Mass will fail you if your car had UpRev tune even if you go to the inspection station that you know off? What about the people went

Now EcuTek has released their software to tune 370z as well. So here is your another company that offers this program. Not sure if EcuTek will pass the Mass inspection or not.

EcuTek is proud to announce the release of ProECU Tuning Tools for the Nissan 370Z

What shop is this? If/when I get tuned, I would like to know my options ahead of time.

My friend was reading this thread and got out of it that you cant get uprev in MA and also get a sticker. There are only 3 people from MA posting in this thread. Only two of them actually have uprev. Also both of us have current stickers. Why are people believing some guy with 3 posts and some other guy who doesn't even have uprev? If you disable sensors you wont pass, this is not necessary on the 370z. I don't know some special shop or person who is passing my car. If you dont believe me call up kaizen tuning and find out. They are the biggest nissan tunner in the MA area. This thread is spreading misinformation and should be deleted.

Look, I want to do the tune but when your told by a shop its not gonna pass how are you supposed to react?? Come here and ask for people in your state to confirm or deny. Not much response from people here in Ma. I will call Kaizen and chat with them this week. Thanks for posting their name.

Just saw this thread so I thought I would jump in here.

MASS has changed how they handle state inspection now.

They are now keeping record of the ECU ID in your car.

There are SEVERAL ECU IDs for each year / model. Nissan has flash updates all the time and from what I've seen.

UpRev doesn't support all the ECU IDs for tuning, when there's several revisions to a ROM they often support the latest version (which totally makes sense).

For example, a 2012 G37 Conv has 1VZ2D, 1VZ2C, 1VZ2B, 1VZ2A for ROM IDs

UpRev only supports tuning for 1VZ2D, because it's the latest known revision.

If you live in MASS and have been through inspection before getting tuned and had ROM ID 1VZ2A , then a year later come in tuned with 1VZ2D, MASS will give you a hard time.

I dont know what UpRev can do about this, but I can tell you EcuTek supports all ECU revisions for tuning, when you get your EcuTek tune make sure you tell your tuner you live in MASS and want the tune delivered in the same ROM as what's in your car now

Hope that helps!

John

It's because they're tuned with the same rom that they were originally inspected with. I heard about this via the EVO guys a few years ago.

Mass is cracking down!

I'm sure anyone having a problem can get a shop to write up a invoice stating the ecu was replaced due to some kind of damage.. The inspection team doesn't have a way to know if the car is tuned.. They're just monitoring ROM ID changes

The way I understood it, and maybe you can clarify, was that MA knows which ids are allowed for the car. IE if you had 1VZ2D, 1VZ2C, 1VZ2B, 1VZ2A from your list and you were a 2012 G37 you were ok and would pass. However, I was told if its an unsupported/unknown ID like a euro tune, something not normally associated with the car, it would trigger a failure. Could you clarify at all? It would just be strange that having the ECU repaired/updated at the dealer or a shop on any make/model of car could trigger a trip to MAC. Obviously some of us have something to hide (IE removed emissions equipment) but 99% of the people that auto failure would catch would be stock.

From how I understand it they are keeping track of everyone ecu id during testing, coming in with a different ID could trigger a failure
