One more question regarding tuning. Sorry, i posted this in a few different Uprev threads...

If the Nismo model has most of its "additional HP" from the tune it has, would getting an uprev tune not add much HP, but make the car drive better?? or would it still benefit 10 - 15 whp from the Uprev tune like other models?? Curious..

If you are going to a Pro Tuner and having your car tuned you're still starting from the base tune in your Z, and adjusting the values from there to dial in A/F ratio, and of course could play with some timing to extract as much HP as possible.

It's not throwing your existing tune out the window, it's adjusting what's there. There are tables and portions of the ECU which remain uncracked from UpRev, and aren't adjusted. There's a lot going on in the ECU.

Got a question about uprev that I've been pondering. When you bump the RPM limit to say 8k or 8.1k does the tuner make that part of the map from scratch? Also is there a limit to how high it can increase the RPM limit?

I have a tuning question I hope someone can answer for me.

The common price I'm finding that forum members are paying for a tune is about $700. I recently got a quote for a shop close to me that is also charging $700 for a complete Dyno tune with licensing. Now, I found a cheaper shop that is only charging $300 but this is only for a tune.

I have never seen the tuning process but I'm assuming the car would have to go on a Dyno for a proper tuning and I would have to get the license in order to get the flash on the car. So what is the difference here between a $300 tune only and a $700 complete Dyno tune?

Just the cost of the Osiris license is $300, so that would be just the reflash and a base tune. The $700 price includes the dyno tuning and the license, you're basically paying $300 for the license, and $400 for the dyno tuning.

The more affordable way to do it is purchase the cable & license and get it done via datalogs.. fully tuned for $500, plus you get to keep the cable.

They can also do a road tune where they actually drive the car but this is hard to do, due to having to get to high rpm's in 5th gear.

UpRev told me they need a 0-60 log and a 1 minute log consisting of various driving conditions (driving through town for example) for them to make am E-Tune. Given that information, you probably do not need to get to the top of 5th gear for a road tune.
