Vvel ????

Has someone opened up the valve covers and turned the ajustments on the VVEL? If so, what happened? Can Nissan tell? Will the valves hit the pistons? It seems like

Default Vvel ????

Has someone opened up the valve covers and turned the ajustments on the VVEL?

If so, what happened? Can Nissan tell? Will the valves hit the pistons?

It seems like a trip to a dyno and a few hours would show the result. If we see any changed other than a larger cam would cause... re-index the stepper motors? How dose VVEL know the position of the steppers?

Just some ideas.

If some one has had a motor appart and checked the piston to valve clearance, and Nissan can't tell, I'll take my car the the dyno and see whats up.

I am a total n00b at engine internals, but figured I would chime in to maybe start some help for you man, I believe the vq is an interference type engine, I am assuming this means it is possible to cause damage internally (pistons hitting valves etc) by adjusting things to aggresively? Like I said I know minimal stuff about engine internals and if someone knows for sure plz help pokeyl out!

The only shop (that is known) to be attempting to crack VVEL is GTM, and they haven't finalized anything yet. It's supposedly their next project to complete now that the Stage 2 S/C is nearing completion. So hopefully in the next few months we might see something... But I'm not expecting much for a while...

It will depend on to what extent the valve timing can be adjusted, but yes worst case you could have a piston hit the valve.
