Default Forged Performance: Bolt-on G37 Tuning

Today when I walked out into the shop I saw a beautiful G37 Coupe on our Dyno. The owner decided to bring the car to us after installing an intake and exhaust to try and squeeze a little more power out of it. With a safe and smooth tune we were able to increase the power output by an extra 14whp. On our Dyno Dynamics Dyno, which is referred to as "the heart breaker" by the locals, the car put down a solid 272whp.

Who's dyno were you on? 300whp seems pretty high on a Mustang for intakes and exhaust. I did 280whp on the Mustang dyno at ESP with Gen 3's, HFC and exhaust.

The Forged dyno seems right on the money.

Edit: I see you were on the same dyno as me. Big difference between your 3rd and 4th gear pulls, AWD 7AT I assume? And remember just because the 4th gear pull was higher doesn't mean it was the accurate one

Even dynos of the same brand can vary. Depending on how the Mustang dyno is setup can have a big impact on numbers. I have seen very low reading Mustangs, and super high reading. Dynos have never been accurate measurement devices, as there are far too many variables to control for. They are better for taking relative measurements for before/after dyno tuning. The delta is all that matters.

That's why I never posted my numbers. Although, I did my pulls with the hood open (heat was dissapated quickly) and my numbers are probably skewed higher. But, yes, numbers from different dynos can vary greatly.

I agree. There is no rock solid calibration, and even a different gear gives completely different results. I didn't pick up any significant peak power with my tune, but we did fatten up the middle and got rid of a couple of tip in gremlins and the car drives much nicer as a result. Looking forward to the track test.

I agree with you guys also.. Dynos can be scewed with the correction factors to say what ever the tuner wants.. I do make sure there are true or as close to true as possiable.. My uncorrected numbers where only 4 WHP less.. ESP is know for being strait shooters with numbers.

Also I ONLY made 1 peak WHP on my tune the 13-15 WHP was made in the mid range only. Better fueling.. But made the car more fun to drive.

Dynos only show a ??? # you may have. But for tuning is a must.. They reall way is to track it and see what your traps are. I will be trying to get there some time soon before it gets hot..

Nice job Sharif. 272whp is right in line with what I got. My 370z pulled 280whp on Kaizen's new Dyno Dynamic's. And you can't get fixated on the number alone. Even if you went between multiple Dyno Dynamic machines you'd get slightly different results. Stick with one dyno while you're making changes. And you want a nice Linear curve and safe A/F.
