So far i can data log with your selected parameters, DTC tool, read and clear codes, boost control via slider, performance measure 0-60 1/4 mile, maps switching and some other items I am not familiar with. I'm auto so I'm sure the manuals have different options and I know more is coming.

I think this app is great and so easy to use. Contact Seb for more details.

Being that you're (me) not always flashing or logging, I have no issues taking my laptop down to the Z and connecting it via the standard OBDII cable when I need to.

Since I finally got those darn Motordyne test pipes installed last weekend, I've been logging and flashing back and forth with Seb. I've actually made it a bit more fun as I've talked my girlfriend into going with me to do the logging and flashing as she gets to hold the laptop and hit the button to start and stop the logging.

Also, I noticed that Ventruck mentioned that the 3rd gear pulls should be started at 2500 rpm. Well, I've been doing mine from 2000. Seb never told me any different, so I guess it was alright starting there.

On a side note, I noticed today that when I upshift from 3rd to 4th at high rpms in Map 2, near redline, I get a nice hallow sounding "pop" out of the exhaust. Nice!

The BT dongle also allows you to change traction control settings as well as change the throttle curve (throttle hijack). I have to admit, it'd be a lot more convenient than the laptop and cable setup. I bought a dedicated, inexpensive PC laptop just for logging. It's fairly energy efficient so I can leave it in the car and only charge it every other week but to just launch the app and log via phone would be easier.

Honestly, by the time you get done paying for the cable and the tune, an additional $350 is a bit rich. Current ECUTek owners should get a discount or they should make that software available via the cable and a laptop. Hell, I used to be able to buy a full stand-alone ECU with datalogging for less than the complete ECUtek package and you can't even tweak/tune yourself. I see what the BMW and Audi guys have and I just have to shake my head at the cost and features offered on our platform. I wish Haltech had stepped up with a plug and play ECU.

On top of it all, the tune stays with the ECU so there's not much you're going to recuperate if you move on to another car (other than the cable).

But it's either the above or Uprev with no timing control. Great business model for the vendors but crappy for the end user.

Starting earlier shouldn't be an issue. If anything it ensures you're logging the range he's looking for, with some extra sampling to observe.

I had my brother handling the laptop. No offense to anyone but doing it solo isn't the best idea.

This! I am currently in the process of a datalogging tune with Seb, and though, even with 4-6 logs to supply him, i found it a bit hard to try and keep hitting that record button-while still trying to keep my head up in traffic.

Bring a friend if you can.

When I posted this thread, I had SZ's basic etune. Now i am in the process of datalogging. I will update the first post with a review of the data logging with SZ.

Nothing but good news here!
Except the weather.. weathers been pretty bad lately. Cant get any logging done.

I replied to your PM.
I should go ahead and give an update and update this to the first post.

How did I feel with the basic etune? It felt nice, there was differences between stock.
To sum up how both maps felt of hot and cold.
Map A felt underpowered but smoother, as above- this is the hot map. Cant go wrong to play safe.
Map B felt rough, but buttdyno says yes to some power.

If you have the current bolt ons you are comfortable with, I would go straight to the datalog option. I thought i would put some more breathers; but decided not for a bit; which is why i went with a base tune first.

Now, onto the update of datalogging with Seb.
Turnaround time is still great. I have received a new flash today and I have been getting replies within 24 hours.
I sent my logs in with my base tune in the morning, if i can recall I received my first flash by end of day.

First flash: i have only driven on one map so far. 5 days of on and off seat time. I am not sure if seb touched the second, as my logging is currently on one.
i have asked him to turn down the throttle a little bit. Everyone that had tried to drive the Z isnt trying anymore due to complaints of the car being too touchy.. which is good. But I was still barely getting used to it after this long as well, so he turned it down a notch. Now new throttle is something I like! Much smoother with the response without the jerk from a stop or slow.
Power. Its definitely there. Everything is much more smoooooother. I would say butt feels the power of a much more smoother map B from the base tune.
And to think, this is the first flash. Excited for how much more to go!

Tomorrow the new flash will go in.

All I can say is that after all the tuning is done, by Seb of course, this car pulls hard. Completely effortless all the way up to redline. You can definitely feel extra oomph throughout the midrange, lightning fast throttle response, and silky smooth acceleration throughout the entire rpm range.

And with the combination of the Motordyne ART pipes and tune, there's absolutely no lack of torque on the low end. In fact, even before the tune, there was no lack of low end torque after the ART pipes were installed. Those pipes do a great job of retaining that low end torque.

Maybe one day I'll put her on a dyno and see what she's making, but it's no big deal. I don't build or drive my car for numbers, I do it for the fun and enjoyment of driving it.
Felix 808 and simul8r like this.

Sorry to bump this topic, but what does a throttle hijack actually do? I've seen people talking about it but no one has mentioned what it is.

Basically it makes the throttle more sensitive. You go to WOT sooner in the pedal travel. It's adjustable.

This.
For example if anyone was curious. Lets say WOT is with the pedal all the way down. Changing this could make your WOT be halfway on the pedal instead.

I had seb change the sensitivity for me a bit ago to less sensitive.. i ended up going back to what seb had put me in the first place.
With ecuteks BLUETOOTH adapter thing and they have (another 300$ i believe) you can change the sensitivity yourself through your smartphone.

I'm not sure if this is accurate. I believe his base setting is wot is still at 100% app but it lifts the earlier % areas. For example if oem is 5% app = 2% tps and 50% app = 48% tps but 100=100 and his would be 5=5, 50=50, 100=100 etc. basically oem is delayed down low and then a progressive curve meeting to 100=100. His default is true linear (at least that's what I was told when I asked when I got mine done and left it to his defaul). Of course he can make it however you request so I guess you could make it 50%app = 100tps.

I've been looking into the Connect/BT device. While it might be a while before I decide on a new mod for data logging, using this for my diagnostics will be WAY more convenient. Flipping tunes come smog time will go way better. I do periodically log runs for any knock (due to doodoo fuel or whatever).

Also keen on the performance tests.

Double checking with Seb about Android compatibility since his site description doesn't mention it. I know EcuTek says it works (app is right there in Google Play), but not sure if there's any other factors involved.

I'm assuming the bottom line is I have to drop $300 purely for an analysis tool for now, but in the interest it helps me in the long run.

Seb is the man when it comes to tuning. He currently has my supra at the shop. I'll have him tune my 370z after I do bolt ons and I had EcuTek on my first 370z but I didn't have the iPhone app. What is so great about the app? Never really looked into it after I sold my first 370 but knew it was available shortly after I got rid of it.
