I'm thinking about getting some 18 inch 350z wheels for cheap to put some radials on. Also on Thursday there are a bunch of us meeting up in Brandon before the track and were gonna head down there together. Let me know if you wanna join.

I'd look at some used 18" 350Z wheels as well, but they are too narrow. |

I tried on some stock G35 17s and they barely didn't fit. It looks like 17s with the right design and offset should fit. I checked Discount Tire and they list a couple 17s that fit. I'm guessing that they'll allow a return if it turns out they don't fit.
17s will allow MT 370s to use Mickey Thompson ET Streets or drag radials with more sidewall. |

I had 265/40/18 BFG drag radials on my 350whp G35 using the stock 18"x8" wheels and the the best I could manage was a 1.90 60'. Too much tire for a narrow wheel...I was still spinning them. That's why I'm looking for a pair of 18"x10" wheels now. I'll need all of the 275mm drag radials this time ;) |
I'm running 305's out back right now and i still can catch a 2nd in my 7AT.

Right slip is with a 50 shot and left is without. We had some problems getting the nitrous to spray correctly so it's nowhere near where is will be soon. We will try again next week.

I'm looking to start taking my Z back to the track. But I need to change my stock tire. What brand and size would people suggest? Also to they need to be streetable tires. Z is also my daily driver.

RE-11's
|
Nismo are 19" x 9.5" (front) and 19" x 10.5" (rear). Stock Nismo tires are 245/40YR19 (front) and 285/35YR19 (rear) Yokohama ADVAN Sport. I have heard some people run 305 on stock tires. But it slows the car down, right? but it looks like 305/30R19 are the only re-11s that are wider than the stock rears.
|
Also if I decided to run RE-11's 305/30R19 rear, would 255/35R19 work in the front? and yes I'm tire stupid..... :( lol
And how much should I expect the tire to effect the 1/4 mile time? |
Jason, Ray, guys-Just got home from Raceway Park N.J.
I went to Raceway park today, because they had something called "Import servival series" Of course they had all Jap. cars, STI's, Evo,s Hondas, but like always, NO Z's:) Since Atco is a quick track, I didn't go for record runs, but to see cars, & do bracket racing(cash/Trophy). They give you 3 run in the morning, and after lunch, you dial in your time & race. To my suprise, my first run was 12.558 @ 109.61 (new record:), second 12.569 @ 109.18, third & last run, 12.504 @ 110 mph, due to a 1.696 60'. It's fun when people come over & ask about what turbo or nitrous I've got:). I tell them stock, check it out. It's fun when they look under hood, car, & inside, & find nothing:) I'm wondering myself where the hell does the H.P. come from for 110 mph. I'm not going to worry about it:) I was in the 12.99 & better braket. Everything was going great. Jason, as you know I can do good reaction times. Four cars at the end & I'm paired up with the best car. There was oil spill delay, & when time came to race, for some reason I lost consentration/fell asleep at start & got beaten by the only car that stood in my way from the $$$ & Trophy. Oh, well, VERY HAPPY with a 12.504 :)
|
congrats andre 12.50 is AWESOME!!!!! Im going for 11.99 all motor /no slicks. We just has a sport compact nationals here 2 weeks ago but my stock clutch starting giving so just replaced it along with 2 piece front rotors for about 5lbs of rotating mass off the the front wheels. Going for a new tune this week.

Only a few mods that would help. Many mods that are done, are done because everybody does them. On certain models they just hurt performance.
If you're ever in Florida, I would suggest seeing Jnaut. He has an auto shop. I've NEVER seen a guy put so many small & big things & ideas into a car where at the end you'll have a very fast car without turbos/superchargers/or juice. All natural/reliable & 100% a street driver. |

Made some runs tonight, fairly cool weather. 75 degrees, DA = 1000ft.
For some reason the guy working there kept pairing me up with this mid-90's Chevy Cavalier... ran him twice. :icon17: 12.981 @ 107.29 mph 1.873 60 ft stillen oil cooler JWT flywheel Berk high flow cats http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...h_IMAG0350.jpg Not as fast as my best run but it was more favorable weather last time (2 months ago). Just glad I can still put down a 12.9x in warmer weather. |

My friends slicks are 17's so i don;t think they will fit so I went out today on my bald stock tires.... It was horrible. No traction until 3rd. I couldnt even feather the gas out of the hole cause the turbos would kick in and the tires would spin so fast that I had to take my foot off the gas completely to get traction again. Looks like I'll be buying a set of 18's with DR or slicks before I go back.

You already have your turbo setup done?
