When I get back from my trip I should have about 1500 maybe 2000 miles on it and I guess it would officially broke in by then and I will head back out to the track. One more question... Any thoughts on the waterbox and spinning out before I get up to the line?
oh man, dont do it. i made that mistake my 1st time out. drove thru the water box and didnt do a burnout. dude, your on street tires and they dont need to be warmed up. drive around the water box. if anything do a little burnout after the water box just to empty the tires of any debris. if you go thru the water box and dont burnout you will spin all of 1st and some of 2nd. if you have slick then its neccessary to burn in the box.

+1, i never understand the guys with street tires going through it like if they have slicks and doing burnouts. i mean slicks are sticky hence they need the added help (water) to break loose and warm up....street tires don't

What are your 60 foot times? For a newb that should be all you need to work on.

Here's a little tip I picked up from experienced and professional drag racers. On a street car drop the rear tire pressure down to ~20psi. For cars with a lot more HP than the 370Z (the few cars out there) drop it down even further. At 20psi it'll allow you to launch the car at higher RPM without having to feather the clutch as much to produce less wheel spin, the tires will deform more upon launch and it will drop your 60' time and ultimately result in a big improvement in the 1/4 mile for such a small adjustment.

Give it a try. The "sportsman" classes in NHRA typically will run rear tires as low as 12psi (that's practically FLAT!) with drag radials.

you need to work more on that 60ft, practice the feathering and the 60ft should drop

You guys should start uploading your slips to Nissan 370Z 1/4 Mile Drag Racing Timeslips - DragTimes.com

Next time I go I will take mine to work and scan them and upload them. Thanks for the help guys. And I will try dropping the pressure down quite a bit and see how that works out for me.

I wouldn't drop them lower than 25psi to start. If you feel the back end wobbling side to side you may want to add more air. Keep your front tires at max pressure.

Lower PSI has given me 1.8's on stock RFT's. It can definitely improve your 60'

Friday will be my final track day w/ my z, unless I go to Atl this weekend. If I go to ATL then I won't be able to go again. Reading some posts.. I think my biggest problems were tire pressure, launching at too high of an rpm, and not feathering the clutch. Want to see if I can top 13.7 stock (have to put my stock tires/rims back on)
