Default Carbon Fiber and Hood Pins

Hello!

I recently purchased a VIS AMS hood for my Nismo, but was wondering how truly necessary hood pins are. I see most Z’s without them, but then again most Z’s don’t track. I regularly hit 120-145 mph, so having some stability is important.

I have a set of Aerocatch hood pins sitting around from a friend’s car that he never used, so I can use them if needed. Thoughts? (Yes I’ve seen install threads but I’m looking for personal input).
Any pics of your cars with hood pins would be appreciated, as would any additional info anyone could share.

Thanks!

There are several good threads on this that a google search will show. I myself just got an abortion clinic dumpster fire of a Seibon TS hood and as the bumpers hit the plastic instead of the metal and the hood mounts are angled too badly to lock down the hood, I'm putting in hood pins as well. Will post on how that goes.

Plenty of guys track without hood pins. Even boosted guys.

That being said, I've seen some of those boosted videos and I might be a little sketch about the hood. I've got a Seibon hood awaiting install that already had latches installed, so it looks like I'll be doing hood pins as well even though I'm not worried about the stock mounting.

I got one where my splitter broke. It shook the hell out of my hood and my car. Hood stayed latched. It was one hell of a ride.

I have never had an issue with OEM hood latch. I ran a Fugimura CF hood at 160 mph with no problem and same with OEM hood and I am boosted and track my car.

You should be worried. Seibon would sex-traffick their mothers for a profit.

Why should I be worried? I was smart and purchased my Seibon hood used. Let someone else deal with fitment issues

This photo shows the pin locations on the Project Clubsport 23 car from SEMA 2018 which has imo the best looking latch locations for the TS hood.

I was thinking to do something similar to their mount, only having the latches slanted to line up with the VIS AMS hood lines.

I Dremeled out the plastic so the washer/nut on the top side of the hood pins would fit
