Need some opinion about the 7at on the track

I was interested into the 7at until I went for a test drive today , I felt something wasn't right and if it would happen during a corner at high speed when changing gear , I'm sure the back end would slip (its kind of dropping the clutch or missing a rev-macth )

I found it to be quite harsh between gear up or down , it's wasn't as smooth that I thought it would. (always in manual mode)

Of course I couldn't try the car fast enough during a corner on the street (not safe)
I was wondering if someone who has the 7at could share his experience on the track.

Are you saying the rear tires would slide when you changed gears when driving fast around a corner?

Shifting gears mid-corner? The instability is a driving issue, not the car. You should not shift while in a corner. I have not got my Z on a track yet, but it seems to be quite responsive to weight transfer.

Was the syncro-rev on or off? I have the 6 speed and it is really smooth once at speed.

The 7AT that I drove was fairly nice. Under hard acceleration, the shifts are quick and sharp - 0.5 sec shifts - manually commanded or automatic. This could be interpreted as harsh. In normal driving, it was pretty smooth. I imagine if the shift occurred in a hard corner under brisk acceleration it would upset the car's balance. I chose the manual because I wanted a bit more control - but I could live with the 7AT and the paddles no problem. My 2 cents...

the 7at has by default the macth-downshift ... there wasn't any bottom to deactivate it or i wad blind ,,,, i know where is the bottom for the 6MT but on the 7at its just not there

no , I was driving straight shifting in manual mode , the problem that I didnt like much was the feeling of changing gear with the 7at , it was half of the time like if i was dropping the cluch or missing a rev-down-shift *on a 6mt*

I just feel the torque in the wheel and thinking if that happen when i will be at the track during a corner,, the rear end could probably slip off and go in the wall ...

At the track you would keep in in manual and wouldn't ever shift in mid-corner. You should always downshift before the corner and upshift after.

That said, there's always the obvious: 6MT

I agree. Particularly for us folks who don't do such things often.

It's really odd - I purchased a 6AT 350Z and was continually dissed by the MT folks. This time I went for the 6MT 370Z - and I'm in danger of playing second fiddle to the AT guys.

The middle video says "multiple clutch" Is the Nissan a dual clutch "seamless" transmission? I thought it was a convential tranny, not a PDK or DSG.

hmmm...maybe the original poster though it was that? I wouldn't think that the UK gets a different a/t than everyone else.

The 7AT in the 370Z gives me so much more confidence when driving hard than the 6MT ever did in the 350Z. Not to mention the 7AT version is so damn quick with little to no chance of missing a shift. Remember that the 7AT is adaptive to your driving style so a test drive is going to feel different than when you've been flogging it for 2 months.

Also, leave the traction control on and the system will keep you from spinning out (unless you do something stupid). I have to admit that I chicken out well before the car gets unsettled. The back end comes out very smoothly and ends up in just the right place.

the auto is fine, sounds like you do not know the car well enough to run at the track. Either shift into or exiting the turn, a driving school would probably help you learn how to manage your shifting.
