Default Improving 60ft With 7AT

So I want to get my 60ft time down from the 2.1 that I achieved this past year. I know I will need tires and that will be taken care of. However, I'm wondering what issues I will encounter and need to be concerned about since I have the 7AT and I will have to launch at a higher RPM than idle.

Buy a 6MT?

Nothing you can do besides hold the brake build some revs and go.

I'll let that one slide just because of the emoji,

Trust me when I say I usually prefer the manual but the 7AT in these cars are pretty dang good.

I understand the logic, but because of the nature of an automatic, I read somewhere that I might have to deal with the rear end possibly leaking due to the stress, just wanted to know if that is true, and if there is anything else I should be concerned with and what I should do prevent any issues from happening.

grippy tires and good track conditions.

only other way to lose time on the 60ft is more HP, upgraded tranny (level10), and drag radials/slicks.

trust me it doesn't leak after some launches lol

FPenvy, what was the best 60ft time you achieved when stock or stock-ish?

no idea. i'd have to go through like 300 slips to find stock times.

with intakes/exhaust/tune running 275 width PSS tires I cut a 1.950 60ft which resulted in my current best ET and trap speed.

Just pull the brake fuse and do a burnout. Brake torque to around 2k rpm.

My best time was 1.939 60ft and 12.9 1/4 mile. Bone stock with 285-30-20 all seasons

Stationary smokey burnout is needed. 'Peel out' doesn't get the tire sticky enough.

especially since Florida tracks are build on downward slope

technically burning out with street tires doesn't help that much. gets a little extra heat and cleaner surface. most street tires don't have the right compound for that. so in the end a big standing smoky burnout is irrelevant with street tires.

and yes FL tracks are downhill into the ocean lol sea level dwelling bastards.

I should go down and visit and beat you all

I thought that too, but my consistent lower 1/4 mile and 60 ft time says otherwise. I tested out both ways on the same night and it drops my 60ft under 2 and shaves 3/10 sec

depends on which street tires you run. some geared more toward autox/track use have different compounds that do take a bit better to lots of heat. most street tires will get greasy with too much heat.

I too have gotten slightly better 60ft with some heat but honestly it comes down to track prep. if theres lack of grip in general from the track tires don't hook like you want.

who you kidding I cant break a 13 around me. partly due to running with terrible DA and actually the 2 tracks by me actually go uphill I swear lol

the one my best is 13.001 at the other is 13.012

I went to a different track and had good DA that day to bust a 12.89

PA is weird in the summer its super hot and humid. I should do more spring/fall runs but anymore I know what the car does and I go for fun with friends.

however.......I may throw some DR's on and shoot to bump my place in the standing back up to top 5 rather than 8 now.
