Kind of off topic but can anyone recommend where to get my CBE installed?

I know Dave of Dave's Ultimate Automotive (several locations around town), but he's not the one who works on your car. They're also a little expensive - I haven't used them since they started expanding a few years ago.

On another note, I'm done with taking the Z to the dealer unless its a warranty issue. The last oil change I had them do (second one ever on the Z), the guy who worked on my car couldn't have been more than 18 and immediately exclaimed "Oh, cool, I've never worked on one of these before. Is this one of the new 350s?" He also didn't put on the magnetic drain plug I provided, and then lied about it to me when I asked. :shakes head:

 Thanks for the info! My uncle quoted me $80 so I think I'll just go that route (no worries, he is a mechanic). I'm itching to get it on today though.

As far as oil changes: that's the reason I've decided to just try to do them myself. Can't trust anyone but yourself.

I paid $70 from a shop that my old roommate is friends with so that's not bad, but he should give you a better family discount lol.

What system did you go with?

NICE!!! I have the EXACT same setup but NONres. You'll love it!

Yeah I'm in Hutto already...blah. I work at Camp Mabry on 35th & MOPAC tho so we probably would only see each other on opposite sides of the highway in passing lol. You just work in Hutto right? Been driving the Z too, so I'm surprised I haven't been seen yet.

Yup, I'm out in Hutto from 9-5:30. Unless you frequent the toll road, we probably won't run into each other.

Nope, I'm headed north at 4:45 so I'm already in Huttoland when you are getting off. Might see you leaving though if you take 79 to get back to aTx...

No, I'm from Cali originally. I've lived in WA state on and off since 2001. Technically I'm still a WA resident. I work for a Defense contractor so I'm here in Texas on TDY/per diem status for the next year. I move around ALL the time, more so than when I was in the Army.

Yes sir, work on Ft. Hood. I'm an instructor for General Dynamics. I've been with the Stryker program since 2005. I train soldiers how to operate these 20ton killing machines

Nice! I was thinking of applying there soon. I'm getting a lil burned out on the tech job I'm doing at Mabry here in Austin. Hows the work environment?

Well since the wars are dying down there is talk about down sizing in our department next year. You could always go online and apply. You would have to be extremely flexible with this type of work. I've moved across the country 4 different times in the past 7 years with this company.

We're getting some much needed rain, with the Weather Channel showing at
least a 50% chance of rain for Leander the rest of the morning. I suggest we
chill this month and pick it up again for next month's show (Sun, Jun 3)

Pintsize725 05-06-2012 08:49 AM

Really? Can't we at least meet for breakfast or something?

Zaggeron 05-06-2012 09:01 AM

They cancelled it in February with less rain than we're seeing/expecting to see. Historically, it gets cancelled if its wet.

Sorry folks.

Pintsize725 05-06-2012 09:03 AM

Well I'm dressed and awake so I guess I'll still head to the meet up spot in case anyone else doesn't see this. Maybe I can talk them into breakfast.......I'm starving.

I would join you if I lived closer, but I'm at the far south end of town.

No worries sir, catch you next time. :tiphat:

I say we plan another evening event between now and next C&C or even a daytime thing like a drive out to Lake Travis.

Zaggeron 05-06-2012 09:17 AM

Definitely up for something before the next Cars & Coffee ...

Lime Creek Rd is a fun, but short, local drive -- maybe lunch/Dinner or something afterwards.

I'm planning on at least making an appearance at the Lowe's. I now have a brunch scheduled this morning, though, so I won't be able to stay too long.

I've got breakfast plans already: ), looking forward to next month. I'm also up for planning a meet before June

 Great! We usually park near the 620 frontage road on the garden side of the Lowe's. I'll try to be there on time so you can just look for me.

MJB 05-06-2012 10:21 AM

Hey guys, I was about 15 miles outside Killeen, on my way to meet with all of you when I got a text from Zaggeron about C&C being cancelled. At that point it was raining pretty hard and I figured it was going to happen. So I turned around and went home. Sorry, looks like the rain followed me from WA :shakes head:

I'll have to meet up with you all for June's C&C. I'm flying out to PA next week and then I'll be flying out to CA the following week, so the rest of May is pretty much a no-go for me at this point.

Pintsize725 05-06-2012 10:29 AM

Well I'm headed to Leander now to see if anyone shows up. Nice to meet you JAR!

Zaggeron 05-06-2012 10:42 AM

In February when it was last cancelled, there were still about 20 cars or so that showed up. So there'll probably be some folk there.

Pintsize725 05-06-2012 10:46 AM

There are people showing up now. No john eagle dealership though. Very humid but otherwise a nice day.

Heading down 1431 for a drive now. Enjoy your Sunday guys!

Pintsize725 05-07-2012 04:41 PM

Ok, so we need ideas for an evening or daytime event between now and the next C&C. What do you guys want to do?

Also, does anyone want to black out my fangs and rear? I'll pay you. :p

Zaggeron 05-07-2012 07:03 PM

A local drive is always fun. Lime Creek Road by North Lake Travis is always fun -- about 14 mile drive one way, but an almost as fun drive getting to the road. Any other fun drives around here?

JARblue 05-11-2012 06:41 PM

I was told to put in my :twocents: so how about we just drive up and down the section of FM 2222 between 360 and Mopac about ten times? :icon17:

Zaggeron 05-13-2012 06:42 PM

^^ heh heh -- yes but everyone on that road -- not only the sports cars drivers -- thinks they are race car drivers. If you're all the way to 2222 and 360 you might as well continue down 2222 and head to Lime Creek Rd. Just Google "lime creek road austin" and you'll find lots of videos.

That section of 2222 scares the eff out of me. We could always roll out on 1431 to have lunch out of town too. It's a nice scenic drive. I'm down for anything, just plan something. :)

JARblue 05-14-2012 12:38 PM

That section of 2222 is the FUN part, Tracie :) I get to drive it pretty regularly at times of low traffic but never in the Z :( If some idiot is speeding in traffic, I just let them go ahead - when it's clear I usually try to have some fun.

Here's my thoughts: Start around Lime Creek @ Anderson Mill. Run Lime Creek to 2222, then hit up maybe County Line for food afterward on 2222 just east of 360. Its right at the bottom of the scary section, Tracie, so it could be optional if some people wanted to do a quick run up and back down to the restaurant. Or a longer alternative is to start at 2222 and Mopac and run to Lime Creek to Anderson Mill and then back the same route to the restaurant.

Have we talked about dates? I know I've got a lot of busy weekends coming up, so I don't want to push for something that I won't be able to attend. A weekend in June probably works best for me, but I understand if y'all don't want to wait that long.

Zaggeron 05-14-2012 01:04 PM

2222 to Anderson Mill and back via Lime Creek sounds good. That's probably less than an hour of driving.

I'm pretty much wide open as far as days/times so if you guys (why don't I just give in and say y'all) can agree on a date and time, just let me know.
