Sweet thanks for the info! My car notified me just 2 days ago! Great timing. :)

How hard is it to pass inspections here in austin? Thinking about getting HFC's.

Pintsize725 04-28-2015 04:58 PM

As long as your OBD II read out is kosher, you should be good.

No sniffer test in Travis county. You can pass with test pipes as long as you're not throwing a CEL. Other more rural counties don't even check OBDII. Just make sure you got cash in hand.

Regarding the Twisted Sister's cruise, if I want to take my Z for one last hurrah it would have to be the weekend of the 16th-17th. If we need to do it later, I'm sure I could ride along with one of you. I'm not sure I want to add that many more miles to the Z right before I trade it. :/

Hey guys, recommended body shops in the Austin area? My Z got into an minor accident - needs suspension checked. Body looks fine, minor scrapes from the curb. Insurance will cover it, just need a good place to go. Suggestions?

Pintsize725 05-04-2015 06:27 PM

H&R in Leander

darkphantom 05-05-2015 12:24 PM

H&R is kinda far from me.

Have you heard anything good about maxwell collision? The nissan dealers use them as their body shop. Just wanted to make sure the car was brought back to factory spec.

H&R is highly rated in the G community. They worked on my husband's 350Z and the color match was spot on. They also make sure to only use OEM parts. Since you have a PW, I would trust them with the paint match. I used Calliber Collision for some work and while the paint matched, it wasn't as clean as it could be.

I've never heard anything about Maxwell.

:iagree: PW is difficult to match. I would take it to H&R.

If you haven't signed up for Nismo Fiesta yet, you're running out of time! This is the first time it's held in our backyard so it'd be nice to see Austin making an effort.

I think I can make it but it doesn't seem like there's anything to pay for. I don't need dinner on Friday. I won't be able to participate in the track or cruise events on Sat. And I won't be entering the show on Sunday. So can I just come park and observe?

Pintsize725 05-08-2015 11:40 AM

I believe so.

darkphantom 05-08-2015 04:31 PM

Guys, where can I snag a Front and Rear Bridgestone Potenza RE50A? I need single tires since the body shop replaced both on the driver's side. The ones on the passenger side need to be replaced too since the fronts are at 6/32" and the rears at 3/32"

Any recommendations on just getting single pieces besides tirerack? Really don't want to pay spend so much money this month on tires >_< (replaced the tires on my other car as well).

JARblue 05-08-2015 04:54 PM

Insurance isn't paying for that? :icon08: Seems a little ridiculous. I would have told the shop to fuck off paying for the stock tires on one side if you needed a whole new set anyway. Such horse$hit they didn't inform you of this before they replaced the ones on the driver side. If you have to pay for half of the set, I would tell them you want different tires. The ones they mounted should be unused and easily unmounted. You can get better tires for cheaper than the damn RE050s. They suck in the wet and only mediocre dry performance for an extreme street tire IMO. PSS are far superior and less money. Or the S-04s are sooo much cheaper and way better in the wet and at least as good if not better when it's dry. Just my :twocents:

You went to the Nissan place, right? They might be dicks about it. That would be pretty standard affair for Nissan :shakes head:

Pintsize725 05-08-2015 04:57 PM

Should have gone to H&R.

Pintsize725 05-12-2015 10:58 AM

Welcome :tiphat:

Austin is a bit less active than some of the other regions, but it's a good group of people. Cars and Coffee at The Oasis the regular car gathering once a month (2nd Sunday I think?), but we occasionally do dinner/drinks at some local eateries. Also, check out the Capital Z Club of Texas - I think they meet every Monday down south (too far for me :()

Give me a shout if you need any help with DIY or maintenance projects. I've got a fair amount of tools if you need to use them.

Blacklisted91 05-13-2015 03:16 PM

Cool, i bought the car about 3 weeks ago, i put on Top Speed Test Pipes and a Catback exhaust. Im looking to do a few things right out of the gate. I want to replace head unit, install rear speakers since the sport doesn't come with them, Powder coat rims black and i would love to paint my door handles black.

Blacklisted91 05-13-2015 03:17 PM

Does my photo show up on the left hand side? Not showing for me.

Pintsize725 05-13-2015 03:18 PM

I think it's time for a meet up. :p

Checkout Nismo Fiesta website. It's the meet you're going to want to go to.

Offsets to fill in the wheel wells a bit better. Look great if you plan on lowering. I think there's a few pictures if you go back through the posts.
