Charity event this Saturday

I didn't realize this weeks football game was at 11am. I commited to a tailgate so I will not be able to attend the event this Saturday. Unfortunate, I was looking forward to it - plus a good cause!

I'm planning on going, but going west would be out of my way since I live in S. Austin closer to 35 than Mopac. Is there some similar place off 35 we could meet up before heading over -- though I guess we're almost there at that point ...

Yeah, we can just meet there.

Cool. I'll see you there then. I'm planning on trying to be there a bit early -- around 10:30am -- they said they may need some help setting up, etc.

That's probably the time I'll be out there.

:hello:

Is there anything scheduled (or does anyone want to do something) next Saturday? I believe it is the 17th.

Pintsize725 11-09-2012 07:01 PM

Let's do Lime Creek + K1!!! :excited:

Hi all.

Been in Austin for a bit over a year and a half, but brand new to the Z world (less than 12 hours!). Look forward to meeting all the Z fans. Anything I need to know about the gatherings?

- ben

There's a good number of Austin Zs, but it is difficult to get us all together.

The biggest turnout is often the Austin Cars & Coffee in Leander the first Sunday of every month. We typically try and get together and caravan over there from a meet up point around 5 miles away.

We really only meet once a month. What part of town are you in? I attempt to wrangle them up more often but we sometimes have small get togethers to do a Lime Creek run or lunch/dinner. Welcome!

That might be cool. Although, unless someone is willing to host, it may be difficult finding a sports bar that has F1 on instead of NFL games...

Cool River is always hosting one but that place is pricey! I'd host but I have an apartment. :/

What are you doing at Cool River? You're not a cougar :icon17:

Definitely not my first choice... even with cheaper prices...

What's the local broadcast schedule for the race? I heard it would be tape-delayed in much of Texas.

To be honest, I haven't even checked. Should probably do that......

I'm in the northern part (2222/360), but I don't mind driving anywhere... I mean, I just got a new Z!

Cool, I'm up at 620/Parmer near a few other Zs.

So are we going to look into a watch party?

:yum: I work just up the top of the hill at 2222 and Mopac. That is a fun little drive from 360 if you haven't done it yet :driving:

I just checked the Houston Comcast broadcast schedule, and it shows the race as being broadcast live.

I swear I saw some disclaimer on Speed a few weeks ago about the broadcast being subject to local restrictions. Hope that isn't the case, and apologies for creating a stir about probably nothing.

Isn't i sold out anyway?

I'd rather not attend even if it wasn't sold out this year. Traffic is going to be a nightmare and I only have the Z to ride down in.

JAR should volunteer his house for the watch party. :p

If past history with any new track is an indication, you are making the right move. It took about five years for Texas Motor Speedway to get things sorted. There are just way too many variables at play to ever get things to work smoothly at first.

I'm going to record the race if I can and do some recon for a future cruise on some back roads south of Houston to Galveston.

Weather will be great for both the race and cruising.

:iagree +

You would have to take that up with my wife. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to watch it with you guys anyway. I forgot my wife volunteered us for minor roles in a short movie a friend is making.

You always have other plans. :shakes head: I'll be, hopefully, doing a shoot on Saturday around Austin. Sunday is free so I guess I'm watching the race on my 52".

Nope, my buddy is supposed to be doing the research on that since he's been around town a lot more. Downtown is going to be crazy due to F1 so we'll see what type of shots we can even get.

I've seen some cool photos with the old power plant building, but being at 1st & Lamar I think I'd pass this time around.

dansracing 11-13-2012 03:50 PM

I will post some feedback on Friday, I will be out there all day utilizing the park and ride. Depending on how Friday goes, it will determine if I go back on Saturday and Sunday even thought I put out the big bucks for it.

Pintsize725 11-13-2012 03:58 PM

Too bad I can't do a shoot at the track. That would be :yum:

Hey, thanks!

Anyone around the Austin area done the rear valance blackout? I've read two or three DIYs already, just wondering if there's any last minute tips I should know. Might be interesting to see one in person too.

Thanks. Looking forward to it.

Note: Changed nickname from cure to trag (just made a new acct). I signed up in January, forgot why I picked "cure". Anyway. It's still me! Can't wait to see everyone's sweet rides... and then get motivated to spend more money.
