i replaced my bad, unsafe (could not pass 50 on the fwy in the rain or it would literally hydroplane and bring the *** around) at around 10k. now at 15k with my re-11's, and they are wearing MUCH better, and much more grip to boot.
edit- at the time of the tire change, fronts were fine. i also dropped my car approx 1.5 inchs at 1.5k, and never had it aligned which accelerated the wear process.
