Every time ESPN would play those "The Number 10" commercials saying the number represented the creative spark & a playmaker, I always thought, "lol Gallas."
Leave it to big Willie to ruin it for Red & I. If anything, RVP is a perfect 9 or 11 & Nasri, Rosicky, or Fabregas should be the 10. |
I get the feeling a lot of the Barca players are being made to look like assholes by reporters who ask them leading questions & then make sweeping proclamations saying, "XAVI/ PUYOL/ etc said ______."
Xavi's current comments seemed pretty spot on for me-- even if Cesc stays this season, I just feel it's delaying the inevitable. Cesc-- young star whose team & fans adore him, but has not won anything & looks set to leave to play with his friends. Is he the LeBron of football? |
I'm kinda surprised RvP took 10, thats usually a number reserved for an attacking midfielder. 9 is usually the number the striker takes, just from past experience and what I've ascertained through the years.
|
I remember particularly a few seasons ago if memory serves me correctly, wasnt Chelsea fined and banned from activity in the transfer period because of tapping up? Barca have been doing this bullshyt for months, how has FIFA not intervened with all this "OOOOH BARCA DNA" "OOOH CESC SHOULD COME BACK HOME" bullshyt?
|
Barca haven't really "tapped up" Cesc, just said, "We'd like to have him here."
They've been annoying, but haven't done anything illegal. |
Spanish media is just dull of it, which isn't helping things. But I think all Gunners know Cesc will go home, it's a matter of when. And most of us don't like the huge speculation that the Spanish media is now driving.
Xavi is still a **** though haha I almost think RvP should take Eduardo's 9 jersey but I swear that number is cursed for Arsenal |
It's only the preseason for the Gunners, but I think we have a mixed blessing in Nasri being left out of the French squad. He isn't connected to the mess the national team is, but he's come out with a bit of an edge about him. I think he could be a big turning point this season. If he stays strong, our offense will really flow, with Cesc and Nasri pulling strings for van Persie and Chamakh. If Arshavin isn't lazy, our offense is easily one of the most potent in the league.
Wenger still needs to get another defender though. Bah. We've shown we can't cope just by outscoring the opponent. I hope he still has transfers coming in. We want Mertesacker! |
Phelan, you posted EXACTLY what I was going to say about Nasri.
What do you guys think about Arsenal pursuing Schwarzer? I was kind of hoping they'd land Lloris (though I'm not sure that was ever realistic). |
Speaking of Nasri, I watched the Sturm Graz game today at work on some russian feed, guy was sick all game, just dicing up the defense like it wasnt shyt and scored a brace, Chamakh looked lively but didnt put any good efforts on goal. Koscielny looks to be Verms Jr., he didnt lose any 50/50s and was a brick wall.
I dont think Lloris was ever going to happen, and Schwarzer, while a pretty solid keeper, only has a year or two left in him, Arsenal is really putting a band aid on a sucking chest wound with that one. We need a young talented keeper to groom through the years, Fabianski was a bust. |

Nice free kick was nice.

Every time Cesc thinks of leaving Arsenal, someone should show him tape of the last immensely talented Arsenal midfielder to leave for Barca's time in Catalonia.
Alexander Hleb regrets ever leaving Arsenal - Telegraph |
Schwarzer is the definition of stop gap. But I never thought Lloris was a possibility. I had hoped we would go for Frey with more vigor, but meh. I'm still anxious for another defender and a goalkeeper. At this rate, I'll take the washed up Australian.
Eduardo is officially gone. Sad to see him go, he was the man before a ridiculous tackle. Heres to hoping we don't see this again with Ramsey. Damn the latest reports to hell, Cesc will be a Gunner next year. I don't case if Wenger decided to meet with Rosell or not. They don't have enough to offer to warrant us selling the captain away. I have accepted the fact that Cesc will play for Barca one day, but it's not next season. End of story. Can we move on now? |
I saw on some forum a guy posted, "Hey Cesc, do you want your wages paid every month?" & another post saying, "I wonder how many borrowed Euros Fabregas is worth."
|
Rumor mill finally has us getting a bid together for Mertesacker...

what no reliable source as usual but still a disturbing read. |
I doubt Fabregas would go behind Arsenal's back. More goal.com bs.
|
yeah thats a load of horseshit, how can you sign a contract without a fee already agreed, I call bullshyt. But, if thats the case, time for a $30 million bid for Gourcuff, along with Stekelenberg and Merte.
