Default 'Macho' Camacho dies in Puerto Rico (R.I.P)

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) -- Former championship boxer Hector ''Macho'' Camacho died Saturday at the hospital in Puerto Rico where he has been unconscious since he was shot in the face in an attack in his hometown.

Camacho went into cardiac arrest in the pre-dawn hours and he was then taken off life support and died shortly thereafter, said Dr. Ernesto Torres, the director of the Centro Medico trauma center in San Juan.

He won super lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight world titles in the 1980s and fought high-profile bouts against Felix Trinidad, Julio Cesar Chavez and Sugar Ray Leonard while compiling a career record of 79-6-3. He knocked out Leonard in 1997, ending the former champ's final comeback attempt.

From what I'm reading (OP's link above) and hearing is this guy wasn't the greatest human being. Aside from him being a good boxer and that he has a family he left behind, is there really any reason to cry ourselves to sleep over this?

Burglary, drug use, child abuse ... nothing of value was lost here.

I've read about him for years. He had many close calls. Never thought he'd make it to 50. Don't know much his personal life, but he was either very brave or crazy???

well, once a person dies, most people would overlook his past sins, unless he's a serial killer or something.

Do you think that's a good thing? To pretend like someone was a good person because he died? Maybe there would be less crime if there were more shame put on people.

nope. not a good thing, in my opinion. I once told my co-worker, who was a pretty religious guy, that i wished there were no new testament. I preferred the vengeful God in the old testament to take care of all the bad people in the world

I didn't post this for people to cry themselves to sleep, just as a Boxing Sport News.

I agree with the comments and for a long time a lot of people saw this coming...

Yep, I met him in the Bahamas in 1998. He was in self destruction mode then. I am glad to see he made it this far. Too bad, RIP!

What about the coke they found in his car? Why do these idiots with money always self destruct when they are no longer doing their
sport of choice? I would try to get as far from that sh*t as I could.

He was a bad person and had a LOT of mistakes like every other single person in this thread (minus the bad person to everyone but I'm sure no one up in here is a saint).
He did a lot of drugs, lotta violence and domestic violence as well. He brought millions into every city he fought in, he helped a lot of people around him as well. Harlem NY will always remember him as a good guy cuz he certainly helped that community out as well.
Towards the end he faded and was probably broke and trying to make easy money on the streets, but I see no need to kick a man while he's down, or in this case dead. He ain't no saint but if everyone is gonna bring up all the negativity when someone dies then we're all pretty much screwed when we die.
Man is dead and there's way more worse people I can think of to start talking trash about who are dead AND still living.
