Forget the rulebook, fix the call. How is possession not reviewable? They're your own freaking made up rules, so overturn it in this case. When a call is so blatantly wrong they should be able to fix it, regardless of what the "rules" currently say. Same goes for baseball. I don't understand how they can live with the fact that it is wrong and just move on. That's just not right.

Forget reversing the call, they didn't even acknowledge that it was the wrong call even according to their own stupid rules.

Bottom line is the NFL won't change its tune unless fans just stop watching. And I don't think anyone is going to stop watching. No one ever looks away from a train wreck.

I will. One more week of no progress, and the NFL is not being watched in my house. My brother has already stopped watching, and he's the biggest football fan I know.

The NFL and its related unions will not care about the fan until the fan makes them care, and the only way to do that is by closing your wallet. It's about time that sports fans show some backbone, or every league will keep doing this, right NHL?

completely disagree.. you cant just change rules nilly willy in the middle of a season cus a few people cry.

Rules are set before the season starts and will not change till next season. This is the correct way to handle this. That way, ALL teams get to discuss the rule changes and it isn't a change made on a drastic event or people crying.

Again, when you play the full thing fast, you can see where the refs might have confusion as to who initially grabbed the ball (grabbed together or not).

Remember, doesnt matter who ends up with it after 5 minute struggle or who can tear it away once on the ground its who put their hands on it first and then went down with it. And in joint possession it goes to the offense.

again, in slow mo replay from multiple angles we can obviously see what should have been called. Look at it in full speed from the angles the ref's had and again, you can understand the initial confusion. Compounded by the fact that possession cannot be reviewed, once decided, they could not over turn it.

end of story. but were all gonna cry about it until the next mistake the refs make. And then when the real ref's get back, were gonna cry about them too.

But, when one ref is calling one thing, and the other is calling something different, and neither is the "white hat" ref, they should have all gotten together to confer before signaling ANYTHING. That was a huge mistake.

Why do we watch such a pathetic game, then? We like crying, I guess.

well, i dont cry about the calls that much. Only during the game, like when they happen but after its whatever.

Everytime the steelers lose a close game, i never say the ref's ****** it up.. i say... the Steelers shouldnt have even allowed it to be close or allowed the outcome to be determined by that one call. I expect better outta my team and move on.

P.S Al, Pm me .. do you actually live in baltimore or somewhere outside and how far is the rest of the crew from you?

Like I posted last night after ESPN's explanation of the rule, joint possession goes to the offense EXCEPT when one receiver establishes possession of the ball prior to the other one. This is exactly what happened. With the conflicting calls by the refs on the field, they should have had more of a discussion of what happened before making a call on the field.

true they should have discussed it further. but lets look. the ref at the front of the endzone called touchdown, the back ref called time.

the ref in the back, could not see the ball as he would only see the defenders back. The front was supposedly able to see the ball and what happened. So they should have gone with the assessment of the front official who called touchdown.. (not saying it was correct) but thats what probably also happened.

Irks me how much hate is directed at the refs. IMO, they're doing a kickass job considering the prep they've been given, and I expect that if the lockout continues, they'll get to a good enough level that things may not get resolved with the real refs

I'm not mad at the replacement refs, I'm mad at the situation which has been created by the NFL and the Referee Union. The scab refs are just doing a job that they're underqualified for.
