This has gone beyond ridiculous and needs to be resolved ASAP. You know the real refs are probably laughing this up right now... I wonder if the replacements are on their payroll? ;) |
we never know what to expect from these "officials" at times (well the whole night last night) it seemed like they were just flagging anything and everything that moved
|
Oh man was that FG at the end close. I don't mind losing as much with a great game/finish like that. Refs had bad calls for both sides but I definitely felt like they were favoring the Ravens for most of the game. There were a lot of non calls for the Ravens in the 1st half. Towards the end there were some BS calls against the Ravens though. It's getting to the point where it's affecting the outcome of big games and potentially affecting the playoff/Super Bowl picture down the line.
I think the Patriots did pretty well on both sides of the ball last night. One thing I will say that went pretty unnoticed was that our offense took a big hit with Edelman injured for the second half. They weren't nearly as effective as they were in the first. He was having a really good game last night. Once we get Hernandez back, we should be a lot more explosive on offense. |
Also learned that my AFC championship t-shirt from last season is bad luck. We're 0-2 when I wear it with the Super Bowl and last nights game. Good thing I ordered a Brady jersey and hope it's better luck for us.

Or they bring out the chains to measure when they spot the ball at the 38 and 1st down is at the 41. Really, you can't see 3 yards without chains?

The KC "fumble" in OT shouldn't have required review. The RB was clearly down with possession and they didn't blow it dead initially. (1) his knee hit, (2) his elbow hit, (3) the ground can't cause a fumble. Call on the field: touchdown Play reversed, and we get the proper call ten minutes later and after the NO fans have been celebrating enough to have their hearts ripped out. |

You know it's bad when teams are planning to play more "dirty" because of these replacement refs. |

The big penalty should be heading Belichick's way this week for grabbing the official. No excuse for that. |

Either way it's not like the Patriots played poorly and have anything to worry about. We kicked azz and just came up a little bit short. Like the Giants proved last season, you only have to do good towards the end of the season to get to the playoffs and win the Super Bowl. Both of our teams should be much better by that time with Hernandez and Suggs playing again. |
lol this is not the league of old lol where if Tom Brady stomped his feet, he got the flag, no. the times have changed. and i must say despite the rediculous amount of penalties..... it was a TRUELY epic.game. that even ended with a Coach grabbing the offical! lol
reports are that Mr Bill is facing a pretty big fine. and a potential suspension. BUT its all rumors till it actually comes out. |

Early reports on NFL.com say that he will not be getting suspended, just fined.

heck the game even had a streaker on the field! lol this game had it all! lol even tho these teams are not in the same division, these types of games are quickly becoming rivalry status. lol.:tiphat: |
He shouldn't be suspended, a fine is in order but not a suspension. Under normal circumstances yes, he can sit for a few games but given that these refs have crossed over from being comically bad to dangerous (Darius hayward bay) I think the NFL would be in the wrong to hand down a suspension.
I find letting 3rd string refs handle these games and getting people hurt to be much more offensive to the game of football than a coach putting his hand of a ref. For the record, i'm a Bengals fan. I hate the Ravens and the Patriots equally. If both teams could have lost that game I would have been happy. |

All good points.

The NFL should use all these fines to pay the real refs.

By the way, I'm not much of a Bengals fan either. :icon17: |

I don't blame the refs for not being able to do the job though, they just aren't trained/experienced enough for this. The NFL cannot take a heavy handed approach of suspending someone for touching a ref while allowing people to get seriously hurt and potentially killed due to labor negotiations.. Its just not right. Also, i'm a Bengals fan but I hate the Bengals organization. I wish Mike Brown would just leave the game to those who know what they are doing  |
Thats my point though, just because you think you can get away with taking a cheap headshot does not mean you should do it. There are many laws and regulations that we adhere to, not just because someone is watching us but because we know it's wrong. The same should apply to the players and coaches especially if they say they care about the game.
I thought Dungy said it well last night, the ref situation is what it is. The players and coaches need to stop complaining and play the game the way it's supposed to be played. I want the regular refs back as much as the next person, but until it happens we don't have many choices. Both sides need to get things worked out, sooner rather than later. |

Oh believe me I think that hit on DHB by the Steelers was dirty through and through and it should result in some serious penalties. My biggest beef if that the NFL is not on some moral high ground here. They have lost respect and control of the players and don't seem to be taking any action to correct it. With that in mind suspending a coach for touching a ref in a non-violent manner seems laughable to me.
|
As much as Goodell talks about player safety and maintaining the integrity of the game, he hasn't done anything to resolve the biggest current issues affecting both of those.

Chad Johnson just bought an Aventador. I'm liking him better already :icon17:
