Shot this bad boy Friday night. Beautiful curves but for the price I would much rather get a GTR.

Question

Okay i have a decent collection of Canon glass.
Camera body is a Canon 60D. The 70D wasn't much of an upgrade.

1. What's the next step up on the Canon model range?
2. If i'm moving from a 16mp sensor... is there much room for improvement? (besides iso)

Thanks all!

If you're in a position where your skill has improved to where your 60D is limiting you, the next step is to go with either the 7D Mark II or the budget friendly full frame 6D. Nothing below that will be any kind of upgrade over the 60D. Higher end camera give you more focus points, better low light sensitivity, more usable ISO (emphasis on USABLE), more flash control, and better ergonomics, amongst other things.

Most people are limited by their lenses more so than their camera. What kind of lenses are you using currently?

Hey 6SPD, thanks for commenting...

Lenses are as follows:
  • Walk-around: 18-135mm
  • Zoom: 70-300mm
  • Prime: 35mm F2.0
  • Wide: 10-18mm

Any thoughts?

good info!! I've got a Canon T3i with the lens that it came with. I've been shooting here and there for the past year and got some good shots off with it, but I'm pretty sure the lens is my limiter at this point. My problem is I'm lost when it comes to the equipment. I have no idea what to get as far as upgrading the lens.

I usually shoot in 2 different scenarios...
1. Car shots, of course!
2. Active shots at Endurance Sports Races. I have a coaching/training business for athletes and a team that helps raise money for animal shelters

So what would be the recommendation for the next lens to buy to further my skills????

thanks!!
Brian

I was in the same boat but did had a Canon T3 (starter camera) 17-85, 50F1.8, 28F1.8, 55-200. Since I just bought the two lens this year I didn't want to go full frame. But after contemplating awhile, I ended up with a 6D and 24-105. No regrets because I'm no open to expanding in the future.

The quality is phenomenal. Of course the 6D is no comparison the the 5DMIII but I always liked to go with a decent camera body and invest the money into the lens. Hence the T3 before.

I sold the body and three lenses then picked up a 16-35 F4. My favorite so far because its perfect for car photography. Looking to add a 35F1.4 for specialty shots but the 28F1.8 covers that for now.
