Funny because (well not really funny but) I just dropped my D700 the other day with my Tamron 17-35mm f2.8-f4 mounted and the lens broke near the mount. I bought it on eBay for cheap (like a little over $300 I think) and it was a great lens. But any ways that gives me an excuse to get the Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 BEAST lens I've been wanting to get forever now. The camera was left plugged in to the computer after an earlier upload and when I grabbed it to head out the door it tugged from the cable and OUCH! Was about to cry. D700 is fine though I got lucky. I've been shooting for years and never dropped any of my equipment until then, and even luckier still that was my cheapest lens.

I had my D70s fall out of my camera back pack once. Destroyed the tele zoom lens i had at the time. Fortunately no damage was done to the camera and the lens was a $300 cheapie. Now i have special insurance for my camera gear that is in addition to my renters policy.

I have lost a few cameras over the years. In High School, I borrowed a buddy's underwater housing for my Canon F-1. I took some great shots with it, but when I opened the housing it was full of seawater. Bad seal on the housing was the cause.

Dallaz, How do you like Aperature? Also how would you say it compares to lightroom or PS?

I prefer Aperture (a lot) over lightroom and I've used V.3 of both applications. Its integrated into the Mac OS so well like changing brush sizes with gestures on the mouse pad and scrolling across the photos etc all work very smoothly. Everything from start to finish works well in aperture. I upload my RAW files straight to it when putting them on my computer and editing is very simple with mainly just sliders yet I've done very extensive edits using it. You'll also be amazed at how much shadow detail and lost highlights you can bring back using this software. Certain images I've edited in Aperture have been mistaken for HDR's as an example of how well you can unify the dynamic range of the photos your editing. As for photoshop that is a different comparison in my opinion and I'm using a software called Pixelmator for Mac which I love and recommend to everyone, give it a shot. There's just endless possibilities in a program like that where as aperture and lightroom you can't fiddle with layers and what not. But look up pixelmator for sure. Just like PS only simpler, way cheaper, and smoother on Mac, it has integrated controls as well. hope this helps

my wife is pretty nerdy too. she's a cute girl (obasan)

shots taken from my D3100 today after some sealant applied.

circular polarizer used as it is very sunny and rays are strong today.

on that rear pict i was standing pretty close so made sure my car's bumper did not have a reflection of me.

I take a great many pictures of myself in bumpers and assorted body panels.
