On the link Isamu provided, they have a comparison chart attachment that indicates the FRS will be running on premium fuel. It will get 12.8 kilometers/liter. If you compare that to the 370Z combined fuel economy of 10.5 K/L, then the FR-S should get about 26 MPG on premium fuel.

I'm really liking the specs. 2700 lbs, RWD, good mpg, and one of the lowest center of gravity cars. Pretty much all it comes down to for me to buy it is how much it will cost and magazine/forum reviews. That and if my Z will ever sell.

premium fuel, huh? oh well. but 26mpg is not bad at all. my G's doing about 16-17mpg on surface roads per my gallons vs actual milage... not that it's a show stopper or anything for me but lower operating costs is always welcome.

I don't know guys, I had high expectations for this car, and it seems to be late to the game for what they are bringing. Compare it to the Genesis coupe, which has more hp, a turbo, and is cheaper. Granted this car is lighter, 2700 vs 3300, but with an oem turbo (read easy to upgrade) and a v6 option, the Genesis justs appears on paper to be a better car, and it is already in the market, with tons of aftermarket support. I just think this subyota is late to the game, and doesn't bring anything that makes it stand out. Now if they Sti it, different story.

Just my thoughts, but I will still go drive one to see how it drives

The 2012 2.0T Genesis Coupe is rated at 210 HP. Now that's just 10 HP more but it weighs 500 lbs more. Very big difference. The Toyobaru will feel and handle much differently. What's the conversion rate per 100lbs ... something like 10hp. So the Genesis would have to be running something like 260 hp to get the same power/weight ratio as the FT. You might be able to get that by increasing boost, but you still have the inertia of the larger mass to cart around in the Genesis.

Really, they are different sorts of cars and not really meant to be compared (though they obviously are and will be)

I don't think you can say they are meant to be different, 4 seats, rear drive, front engine, fun, handling, sports coupe. They look almost the exact same, have similar hp, and similar prices. I think they are in direct competition.

Yeah but the FRS comes in at 2600 lbs. I don't know how many people here have driven cars under 3,000 lbs before (probably not many), but 2,600 lbs feels A LOT different than 3600, 3300, or even 3200 lbs!!!!!

Obviously they are in direct competition. But apple producers and orange producers are in direct competition for your fruit purchases, but you still shouldn't compare apples and oranges. People still do though -- both are hand sized fruits, round (ish), sweet, cost close to the same, etc.

Seriously, what I meant was that they are really quite different sorts of cars leaving aside the obvious similarities
