Depends what you are looking for in a car. 997 was significant improvement over 996. 911 is much more refined car than the Z. And if you learn about Porsches you will find maintenance costs can be managed to reasonable levels. You will become close freinds with Porsche wrecking yards. I replaced a blown m96 motor with a used one with 13000 miles for $2000. Brakes last forever on these cars. You just need to make sure when buying a used porsche to get low mile well maintained car. Better to pay a little more for well maintained low mile Porsche than a poorly maintained car.

Hmm, I dont think this 911 is enough to dethrone my dream of owning a Viper. I'm going to leave it on the back burner for now, and keep on enjoying the Z. If a Carerra S comes along then that would be worth considering!

Funny when I had my Z for sale I was looking at the 06/07 Porsche Carerra 4s

I figured all wheel drive, resonable looks, and "somewhat" of a back seat. Some beautiful ones out there and the price point is good right now. Ended up with something else though

gotta pay to play. If you don't mind stumping the extra dough for Porsche maintenance, go for it. It's much more refined, and has a bit more cachet.

But you can have more or less the same amount of fun in a Z on public roads and at a track, for less skrilla.

No wrong choice here, I feel.

i got quoted a cheaper insurance premium for an 05 viper than m 05 lotus. didnt make sense to me.

then again i paid a higher insurance for a ford truck than i do my z lol.
