It makes sense, too. Camaros have higher starting MSRP and more expensive option packages than Mustang.

wait................why the hell is there an argument about NON V8 options of these cars?
it's simple. with a mustang or Camaro if you don't get a V8 you're a pole smoker. end of argument//

And to reiterate, value is both subjective and objective.

I suppose that's fair, however I feel like using the employee pricing (which is right around invoice) gives you a pretty fair comparison since you should expect to pay invoice or better for any car, even the new Camaro.
Also helps that Ford bumped prices across the board by $1300 recently. Not sure why.

Actually, that $1300 bump could be part of the discrepancy. Subaruwrxfan bought his Mustang long before the increase.

At the end of the day. They are two great cars. In reality, I like both cars. If I were buying, I'd have have to think it through though I lean toward Camaro.

I'll agree with you there, brother! I'd say I prefer the Mustang overall due to the look and the visibility/function. Unfortunately the Camaro's looks don't do much for me. I think it has one or two badass angles (front and front quarter) but other than that I don't see myself turning around to look at it as I walk away, if you know what I mean. I still would need to get some quality driving time with one before I could fully make a decision, though!

From my perspective...
I prefer the mustang slightly in looks but the Camaro in stance. I prefer the Camaro interior but prefer mustang e brake. I prefer Camaro torque but prefer mustang high rev nature. Steering in a Camaro is better Seating position in a Camaro is much better. Braking in a Camaro is better Visibility in a Stang is better. Street presence is tied.

I wish Ford would make the magic shocks an option on the GT.

Expanding on what you said about looks, I really love the Mustang from most all angles. I think it has a very classic and sexy shape, sort of like the Z does. Looks elegant in many ways.
The Camaro on the other hand is a total brute... sharp lines and creases chiseled from a brick basically. I love the front and front-quarter view, but am not a huge fan of the side profile or rear view. I think the Camaro looks brilliant from this angle: ![]() But not really this: ![]() Or this: ![]() I still really like it, though... Sometimes I wish I was diehard Ford or Chevy so I could just dismiss one or the other and not have to make any tough decisions. ![]() Also, important to note that the Camaro in those pictures has the sunroof, which I've heard severely limits headroom. It also doesn't look very appealing. If I ordered a Camaro I'd get it without the sunroof so I could have the "double bubble" roof. There's a lot going on in the back of the Camaro. I think the back in black looks good. Also in the dark red and grey. Other colors the back starts looking a little strange.
Off the side it's average. It still looks like the old Camaro with a different back window. The sunroof has less visual appeal. But Chevy makes a quality su roof. The vacuum effect in certain positions allows cool air to rush in without the need for AC on warm days. But I feel you on the hard top. I just remembered... I made mention a year ago when I first posted this that the 2.0T would match or exceed the performance of the ecoboost based on its performance in the heavier ATS. I got nay sayed by someone and they gave me an ecoboost speech. A year later in practice, the proof is in the stats. With 40 horsepower deficit and less torque, is virtually a match to the ecoboost. Good job GM. Having driven the ATS 2.0T performance on a few occasions. I know that Camaro will be fun, torquey and quick. Doing more with less. This is why, we buy Japanese cars. They do more with less. GM did well with turbos in the 80's. They gave up on a niche they had locked. Glad to see them back.
